Further Comments: The upper part of this building was home to a phantom older woman with antisocial tendencies. The entity appeared to one member of staff who popped upstairs to move some stock, causing the witness to quickly retreat.

Further Comments: Juliana Popjoy, the mistress of eighteenth century fashionista and dandy Beau Nash, is reported to haunt this restaurant, as is another ghostly woman wearing clothing from the 1960s. They say the latter figure looks perfectly solid until she suddenly vanishes without trace.

Further Comments: While living in a bedsit with a shared kitchen, one witness spotted an older man standing on the landing of the staircase. The witness jumped and the old man vanished, although the witness was left with a very vivid impression of the ghostly figure - grey hair, blue eyes, baggy trousers, olive green waistcoat, and shirt sleeves held up by expanding metal bands. The witness said the figure's head was slightly cocked to one side, as if curious.

Further Comments: Phantom monks are reputed to haunt this area. A photograph taken by Russ Cribb on Flickr purports to show a ghostly cowled figure standing in front of the abbey's main door.

Further Comments: The figure of a naked Roman soldier (how do you tell without a uniform to assist you?) has apparently been seen running around the centre of the town. On one occasion, a police officer gave chase, but the pursuit abruptly ended when the figure faded into the air.

Further Comments: Phillip, the first governor of New South Wales, has been seen dozens of times over the past fifty or so years, always wearing the same black hat and long cloak.

Further Comments: Said to have committed suicide on the site, this grey phantom nurse has vanished as of late.

Further Comments: William Beckford's pet dog, Tiny, was once buried by the tower, though the creature's ghost returned after the remains were moved. It is also said that William's ghost haunts the graveyard surrounding the tower.

Further Comments: As per polt normal, this spirit is said to throw glasses around, create disembodied footfalls, and generate cold spots.

Further Comments: Seen by a husband and wife couple, this monochromic figure silently drifted through their living room, terrifying the pet cat. More recently, she has been observed on the staircase.

Further Comments: Two lions stand on the gate posts here, each cat with a paw on a ball. Locals say when the clock strikes thirteen, the lions kick the balls at each other.

Further Comments: George is said to take a female form and haunt the cellar, close to a well which was once thought to be bottomless.

Theatre Royal, Bath.

Further Comments: An actress killed herself in the hotel in the 1880s after discovering her husband had murdered her secret lover. The actress's last performance at the theatre occurred a few hours before her death, a role which required her to wear a grey feather dress - the same clothing her ghost still wears as it patrols the theatre and hotel. Her phantom may have last been seen in 1975. A dainty butterfly is also reported to haunt the theatre, manifesting briefly once a year on Christmas Day.
