              Further Comments: Haunted by several monks dressed in brown, they are also held accountable for the echoing footsteps and the smell of burning incense. At least one person has felt an evil presence at the location.

              Date / Time: 1951
              Further Comments: A family driving in the New Forest while on holiday passed a mist covered lake, with a sword set in a large stone a few metres off the shoreline. The lake had disappeared when they drove back and, to the best of our knowledge, has never returned.

              Further Comments: This cottage was haunted by loud whispers and footsteps heard in empty rooms. The presence also opened and closed doors around the building.

              Further Comments: A former housekeeper, Mrs Waggs is said to haunt this location. Another phantom, a woman in white still loiters in the garden, and finally an unseen coach pulls into the driveway.

              Date / Time: 1969-1971
              Further Comments: Over three years three people spotted a phantom girl at the farm. She wore a grey hooded cloak, though her face could be seen beneath, and was described as young with pretty, brown eyes.

              Further Comments: Setting off to his paper round, a teenager heard an animal in pain running through undergrowth, closely pursued by the sound of a horse. Nothing could be seen, but the noises lasted for around fifteen seconds.

              Date / Time: 1987
              Further Comments: While flying a kite on the site, a witness heard a loud crack behind him, as if a large branch had fallen to the ground. Turning around, the witness spotted a fast moving hooded figure gliding through the trees. The figure turned and looked at the witness, revealing a black hole where a face should have been.

              Date / Time: 1992, around 23:00h
              Further Comments: Walking home through the churchyard, a witness heard movement behind them. Turning around, they watched as a misty green shape fall to the ground and vanish with a thud.

              Further Comments: A woman dressed in black holding a bike asked two friends for directions to Dean. They gave the directions, during which the woman would only say 'yes', and afterwards she climbed onto her bike and disappeared seemingly into thin air when the two witnesses momentarily looked away. One of the friends later said that the bike was Victorian and the woman's clothing 'odd'.

              Further Comments: The area was held to ransom by a fire breather who demanded a pail of milk once a day. The knight who engaged the dragon in battle barely made it out of the conflict with his life, and though the dragon lay slain, the victor died shortly after.

              Date / Time: Unknown
              Further Comments: A famous local witch, the ghost of Mary Dore was said to linger in the woods long after her death. On occasion it would take the form of a hare-like animal, and on others the form of a beautiful woman which flirted with male witnesses before vanishing. Another phantom, this time with a skull as a face, was also reported in the woodland.

              Date / Time: Seventeenth century onwards
              Further Comments: Possibly fakelore rather than folklore, one story says a giant red lion (or 'lyon') with yellow eyes and stag-like antlers resides in the woodland in the area, occasionally appearing to this very day.
Location: Bordon - Forest Road / Hendon Road area

              Date / Time: June 1999 and March 2001
              Further Comments: Two friends driving from the hospital to one of their parent's homes, a two minute trip, lost one hour forty minutes of their lives. Neither was aware of any periods of unconsciousness or 'jumps' in time. Two years later, another report came in of a missing time episode in the area; this time the witness lost three hours during a five minute walk.

              Date / Time: Twentieth century
              Further Comments: Echoing footfalls have been reported from this public house, as have strange sounds from the cellar. It has been speculated that the pub is haunted by a man hanged here after a mock trial went tragically wrong.
Location: Botley - Road across area once known as Kit Nox Hill

              Date / Time: Unknown
              Further Comments: While locals claimed this stretch of road to be haunted, they were unsure whether the phantom belonged to Kate Hunt, a local witch, or Kate Knox, who drowned herself in a pond close to the hill.
Location: Braishfield - Dark Lane, and the surrounding area

              Further Comments: The area is reportedly haunted by the shade of an Edwardian woman looking for a hoard of treasure she hid while living in a building along the road. She is said to be more likely to be seen by dogs, which react by howling for no apparent reason, rather than people.

  The Mistletoe Bride.                      
Location: Bramshill - Bramshill House (police college)
              Type: Haunting Manifestation
              Date / Time: 1980s
              Further Comments: Not just home to the ghostly bride (who suffered the fate of hiding in a chest from her husband while playing hide and seek, only to become stuck and suffocate) who wakes people up who spend the night there, but also to a grey lady who haunts the library and a green man who hovers by the lake - it is reported that he has no legs. Finally, a man in a flannel suit was observed walking through a wall by a security guard in the 1970s.

              Further Comments: A little girl wearing a bonnet is said to walk away from the church before disappearing through a churchyard wall.

              Further Comments: Spending his final years here, Karloff now haunts his former cottage.

              Further Comments: The Quaker who haunts the old manor house is not alone in the afterlife - the building is also reputed to be the home to a ghostly priest and a former female owner.

              Further Comments: Roads running in and through the village are reportedly home to several phantom entities. A highwayman, a cavalier, a small group of Tudors have all been reported here.

              Further Comments: Elizabeth Butler drowned in the stream in 1745 and has been known to return to walk alongside the waterway.

              Further Comments: This restless spirit was murdered by a long forgotten owner of the house - her ghost now appears prior to the death of the current owner of the property.

              Further Comments: A pair of cloaked figures, identified as monks, walk through the churchyard before vanishing.
Location: Brockenhurst - Near disused railway line

              Further Comments: At least five witnesses watched a large black cat attack a dog before running off to chase nearby ponies. The incident was reported to the police, and although the cat remained undiscovered, New Forest keepers found a collie dog with a broken leg.
