George

Luck of Workington

Location: Workington - Workington Hall
Type: Legend
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: This was one of the places which Mary Queen of Scots took refuge in when escaping from the English. To show her thanks, she gave Sir Henry Curwen a wine cup, and it was this item that was deemed to bring the owner great luck. It is worth noting that the hall is now ruined, and the cup now resides in a bank vault.
