Short Swordsman

Location: Bedworth - Coal Pit Fields, exact location not known
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Late 1950s / early 1960s
Further Comments: A young girl witnessed a man of short stature and dressed in Cavalier clothing carrying a sword. The phantom was surrounded by a green glow and beckoned the child to approach. Her reaction to this is undocumented.

Box Mover

Location: Bedworth - Library
Type: Poltergeist
Date / Time: Circa 1960
Further Comments: Storage boxes on the top floor were discovered rearranged after being tided. After being sorted again, staff downstairs could hear banging above them; something had once again reorganised the boxes.


A phantom miner down the pit.

Cloth Cap

Location: Bedworth - Newdigate Pit (no longer operational)
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: November (normally) (reoccurring), 1930s onwards
Further Comments: The ghost of a former miner who died when the cable of a lift snapped, sending him falling to his death, 'Cloth Cap' was occasionally spotted down the mine. One witness spotted the miner wearing a long black coat with the collar raised.

Blonde Child

Location: Bedworth - Private residence, Derwent Road
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: 1995
Further Comments: While sitting on a sofa, this witness realised a young child with blonde hair was standing by their side. The child quickly vanished.

Anne Whateley

Location: Bidford-on-Avon - Hilborough Manor, Evesham Road
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: Said to be the wife of William Shakespeare, this presence is reported to be quite strong in one of the bedrooms. The building is also reportedly haunted by a shepherd who died of the plague...

White Stag

Location: Bidford-on-Avon - Hillborough Lane
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: Not much is known about the ghostly white stag which was once said to haunt this lane. A phantom white lady was also said to lurk in this area, having been murdered in a field.

Woman in White

Location: Bidford-on-Avon - Lanes around Bidford Grange
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Circa nineteenth century?
Further Comments: A phantom woman in white would drift around lanes near the grange.

Nun

Location: Bidford-on-Avon - Salford Hall Hotel
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: The nun was murdered in the hotel and has yet to check out.

Hideous Man

Location: Bishopton - Private house (likely no longer standing)
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: 1970s
Further Comments: A man unable to sleep turned over in bed and came face-to-face with a hideous male figure standing beside him. The man punched the figure, only for his arm pass through the apparition. The man fled the house.

Archer

Location: Brinklow - Brinklow Hill, aka the tump
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: 2019 (archer),1980s (others)
Further Comments: The occupants of a vehicle passing the tump spotted an archer who appeared to be practising archery. When they turned around, he was nowhere to seen. The site is said to be haunted by a Victorian ghost and has also been a site of UFO activity.

Flashing Orange

Location: Bubbenhall - Stoneleigh Road
Type: UFO
Date / Time: 11 February 2008
Further Comments: A couple in their car thought a falling flashing object was going to hit them. They reported the object as being half the size of their Vauxhall Corsa, flashing orange, and being a dinnerplate shape. The ufo landed in nearby fields, but what became of it is unknown.

Jenny Burn Tail

Location: Burton Dassett - General area
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Summer nights (reoccurring) - last seen twentieth century
Further Comments: Jenny's burning lights have been seen in the warm evenings, normally luring witnesses into nearby woodland.

Screaming

Location: Burton Dassett - Road between Over Pillerton and Eatington
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: A woman buried at a nearby crossroads after taking her own life haunts the area, her screams terrifying witnesses.

Crossing Figure

Location: Caldecote - Weddington Lane
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: January 2012, around 18:00h
Further Comments: A driver and their passenger observed a figure step out from behind hedgerow and cross the road ahead. The witnesses could see oncoming car headlights through the figure which shimmered as it moved.

Squire Newsham

Location: Chadshunt - Area around Chadshunt House (aka Chadshunt Manor)
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Nineteenth century
Further Comments: After Squire Newsham died in 1836, he would appear (or be heard) in the neighbourhood driving a coach pulled by four horses. Some accounts issued the ghost a pack of phantom hounds.

Nuns

Location: Chadwick End - A41, near Chadwick Manor
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: 1960s
Further Comments: Several nuns were seen by police driving along this road at night, who narrowly missed hitting them. The police stopped and returned to talk to the nuns about the dangers of wearing black along unlit roads, but they had disappeared.

Old Lady

Location: Chalfont St Peter - Church
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Early twentieth century
Further Comments: A phantom woman in a mob cap was said to have ceased appearing at the village pub and started manifesting in the local church.

Young Girl

Location: Clapton Bridge - Alveston Manor hotel
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Twentieth century
Further Comments: Having died in the building during an Edwardian party, this young spook sometimes appears in one of the bedrooms.

Blue Coated Man

Location: Cleeve Prior - Green Hill
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: The mysterious ghost of a man in a blue 'inspectors' coat is regularly seen in fields and areas surrounding a farm.

Young Girl

Location: Cubbington - Manor House (no longer standing)
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: This young girl was killed by her father after he locked all his children in the house after developing a mental illness. Her ghost was said to haunt the building before it was demolished.


The Dun Cow of Warwickshire.

Dun Cow

Location: Dunsmore Heath - Fields in the area
Type: Cryptozoology
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: Said to have been used to scare children into going to bed, the Dun Cow of Dunsmore Heath was of massive size, and sported eighteen teats. The beast was slain by Guy of Warwick.

Poke

Location: Eathorpe - Plough Inn
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Circa 2003
Further Comments: A former worker at this pub reported feeling a poke in the shoulder from an unseen hand as he mopped the floor. A few months later, a colleague claimed to have seen the outline of a person walk across the restaurant area and vanish into a door leading to the bar.

Figure

Location: Edgehill - Castle Inn

Date / Time: Late 1990s or early 2000s
Further Comments: A ghostly figure was said to have been observed walking through the inn.

Two Ladies

Location: Ettington - Ettington Park Hotel
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: 14/15 March 2005
Further Comments: Two female figures haunt the grounds of this hotel; a lady in grey walks near the staircase where she was killed, and the other (dressed in white) walks the terrace. Two children can be seen and heard crying, standing by the river that runs through the grounds. In March of 2000, a man staying at the hotel reported seeing and feeling a strange concretion of 'baleful' energy in his room, while in a photograph taken in October 2014, an amorphous shape appeared above someone's head. As a side note, the building was used in the original film of 'The Haunting'.

Scratching Moll

Location: Ettington - Woodland known as Mollsgrave Coppice
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: Moll lived alone in the woodlands, with locals believing her to be a witch. She took her own life; buried near a crossroads, her ghost returned and would scratch anyone who came too close.
