Further Comments: A saucer that changed colour from red to green to blue landed in an empty field on this estate, glowing brightly and seen by at least six people. The object took off, spinning, and headed off over the horizon.

Further Comments: Over 100 people watched five objects moving over the town centre for a period of around thirty minutes. One witness said three of the lights formed a triangle, another hovered to one side, while the fifth light darted around. Another witness claimed they looked like little balls of flame.

Further Comments: Seen hovering silently in the sky, this UFO had white, red and green lights and remained visible for around 90 minutes.

Further Comments: A pilot waiting for a train at Clapham Junction observed a flashing light which would periodically disappear and reappear elsewhere in the sky in an instant. The object was still visible when the pilot reached his home in Wimbledon. Now a retired training captain, the man has never been able to explain the object.

Further Comments: A group here for Sunday service watched a strange ship drop anchor from the heavens, which became entangled around a gravestone. One of the crew jumped overboard and headed towards the anchor, moving as if swimming. Witnesses grabbed the stranger as he reached the ground; he struggled briefly before drowning, even though on dry land. The remaining crew in the ship severed the rope of the anchor and sailed away; the strange artefact was melted down and used to make the hinges on the local church doors.

Further Comments: Conghalach Cnoghbha, High King of Ireland, and his men were said to have spotted a sailing ship in the sky here. A crew member of this ship threw a spear at a salmon, also in the sky, which missed and landed close to Conghalach. The crew member leapt from the ship and, swimming in the sky, came down to the ground to retrieve the spear. One of the King's men grabbed the swimmer, who screamed out 'I'm drowning!'. Conghalach told his man to release the crew member, who 'swam' back to the ship which then disappeared into the clouds.

Further Comments: Ambulance mechanic Gary Wood and his friend Andrew encountered a black shiny UFO along the A70 - it had no lights and was silent. After realising that they had lost one and a half hours, they underwent hypnosis where they discovered they had been abducted by frail grey aliens with large eyes.

Further Comments: A group of school children reported seeing a flat-bottomed UFO shaped like a ruggers ball hovering above woodland. The object had three bands of lights, hummed, and appears to disturb the tree line.

Further Comments: A disc-like craft was observed by one witness. It had two lights which looked like windows, and a small red light towards the rear. The craft vanished in a flash of white light.

Further Comments: Alan Godfrey, a policeman on the Yorkshire force, reported seeing a large UFO along the road, and experiencing missing time. He was later hypnotised and 'discovered' that he had been taken inside the alien craft and subjected to experiments.

Further Comments: The skies between Todmorden and Bacup have been home to frequent reports of unidentified lights which have alarmed both people and animals alike.

Further Comments: A group of ten orange lights flying in a straight line were spotted by fishermen, a few forming triangular shapes. Changing position slightly, the witnesses could see around twenty more lights flying low behind the tree line, all moving in the same direction.

Further Comments: Dozens of people contacted the local media with reports of a strange flying cigar which passed over the town. One witness managed to take a reasonably clear photograph of the UFO with his mobile phone.

Further Comments: Sixty or more red lights were seen by several people over the skies of Uckfield. The lights moved in close formation and eventually moved away.

Further Comments: Driving through the area, two people suddenly became aware of an unusual light coming from within a nearby barn. The people initially thought the light belonged to a man who would collect milk from farms in the area. As the people drove closer, three beams of brilliant light shone down from a disc shaped craft hovering above the field to the right of the car. As they passed the lane, the lights shut off and the craft flew northwest, leaving the area in complete darkness. The following day, the people returned to Uppertown and visited a farm. They noticed that all the produce had been dumped in the yard, as though the milk collector had quickly fled from something.

Further Comments: On a dense, foggy night, author Andrew Collins (pictured) and a team of four other paranormal researchers encountered a small light that moved a few feet off the ground, rather like the headlamp of a moped. The light vanished into an area blocked by low hedgerow, and when they examined the ground the following morning, there was no evidence of tread prints.

Further Comments: A driver pulled over to watch a two metre tall creature, dressed in silver and with thin beams of light coming from its large eyes, as it moved along the embankment by the side of the road. When the witness arrived home, he discovered that he had 'lost' almost an hour. Just prior to the driver's sighting, a local woman spotted the figure from her garden as it walked through the former munitions factory on Warrington Road.
