Rendlesham Forest, Suffolk.

Further Comments: Once only famous in ufological circles, the story of the landing of an unknown craft at Rendlesham during the early 1980s still causes controversy today. Unrelated to the UFO sighting, the Big Cats of Suffolk website reported there had been a string of big cat sightings in the forest prior to 1995, with occasional sightings still reported.

Further Comments: A fourteen-year-old boy watched two silver discs flying at height and in a southerly direction. The craft did not resemble any aeroplanes that he had seen.

Further Comments: Andrew Warren and his son watched a diamond formation of lights as they passed overhead. Though the source of the lights appeared close, there was no sound, and the pattern appeared to hover before moving away. They also saw two other patterns of light, one of which was a 'V' shape.

Further Comments: A witness watched a fish-shaped orange glow with a black line where the mouth would be. A white dome could be seen on the top, and a fin at the back. The fast object moved westwards and was more than half a mile above ground level.

Further Comments: A family of four observed a set of three orange lights, 'undulating like a jellyfish', drifting over the town and heading upwards before they disappeared amongst the stars. The UFOs were also witnessed by two people on the outskirts of Romford.

Further Comments: This part of the county has so many reports of strange nocturnal lights that it justifies the dramatic nickname. However, cynics name British Aerospace as a possible source for the displays.

Further Comments: Three figures, all less than four-foot tall with tissue paper wings, drifted into a house in the town and interrogated a housewife for an hour. She said they looked like fairies, though they had laser beams on top of their heads and left via an eight foot long UFO.

Further Comments: A witness pulled their car over to have a better look at a circular object hovering about twenty metres above the road, as did another car behind them. The object did not make a sound and the witness estimated it was around five metres in diameter. The witness then lost their nerve and drove off, as did the occupant in the other car.

Further Comments: A forty-six centimetre disc covered with strange hieroglyphics was found by three men who were investigating the sighting of a ufo which glowed eerily in the night sky.

Further Comments: Walter Maunder, the Royal Astronomer, observed an 'auroral beam' moving rapidly across the sky, which he also described as cigar-shaped and like a torpedo.

Further Comments: A captain, first officer and flight engineer of an aircraft flying from Belfast to the Isle of Man reported a bright white spherical object that became an orange beam.

Further Comments: A large dark object was seen passing over the town, buzzing loudly.

Further Comments: A red cloud which covered the roof of a house was seen by three people. Different coloured beams of light, mainly green, pink and blue, emerged from the cloud for around fifteen minutes before vanishing.

Further Comments: Witnesses observed a black, pear-shaped balloon-like blob in the sky before it exploded into smoke and flame, falling to the ground (although no wreckage was reported). Another object was reported a few days later. Local research stations and their use of balloons were blamed for the UFO, although all the organisations denied knowledge.

Further Comments: While watching some F15s over the Wash, a witness spotted a dark grey craft, the shape of a stretched plectrum, emerge from a cloud behind them. The ufo shimmered before entering a small cloud from which it did not reappear.

Further Comments: Two separate groups of witnesses watched as this craft, around 25 meters long, passed low over the road, melting the tarmac surface. Vehicles and lights nearby were disrupted.
