Further Comments: The resident in this building witnessed a shadowy figure pass the bedroom door on one occasion, and heard a voice calling their name from an empty part of the building. Visitors to the building would feel uncomfortable.

Further Comments: A couple returning home from holiday reported seeing a man dressed in Victorian clothing cycling in the middle of the road. The figure vanished as they drove towards him.

Further Comments: The evening prior to a death in the owner's family a team of four horses would pull a coach up the driveway before fading from view. The nearby Barton Street is also haunted by a phantom horse that throws its rider into a ditch.

Further Comments: The Ghostbusters UK team were called to this farm to investigate phantom footsteps, cold spots and an oppressive atmosphere. This latter factor was said to have caused several accidents on the site. The paranormal team were able to remove the atmosphere and normality returned.

Further Comments: The top of the hill is said to be home to a Black Watch soldier, dressed in First World War uniform. The man is thought to be a Scot who met and married a local woman who he had met on the hill.

Further Comments: The ghost of a Spanish lady that fell in love with the master of the house pitifully drifts around a tree in the gardens. The master of the house was already married, her love went unrequited, and she slowly pined away.

Further Comments: The building appeared in the local press after a member of staff reported hearing leather shoes walk across a room and other employees complained about objects which moved themselves around the site. The town hall was once a jail and there is a local myth that says the body of a boiler man was left undiscovered in the basement for two days.

Further Comments: A headless coachman, his missing cranium in a box besides him, drives his coach and four along this lane.

Further Comments: Formerly RAF Manby, the area is haunted by a Second World War pilot. He is sometimes seen wearing a long coat, and at others wearing his flying gear. The drone of aircraft engines is sometimes heard over the old runways.

Further Comments: One of three bridges in Lincolnshire that is said to be a haunt of the black shuck.

Further Comments: A photograph taken of the crew outside the front of the station showed a woman in Victorian dress standing in the doorway. A second photograph taken moments later showed no such figure.

Further Comments: The man who haunts this building murdered a woman on the site and buried her body under a nearby stables, now site of the fire station. In 1986, a cleaner claimed to have seen the ghost three times, while a decade earlier, staff heard somebody leave the building, although they were alone at the time.

Further Comments: An outbreak of poltergeist activity resulted in several chickens being torn apart and fires spontaneously igniting, one causing serious burns to a servant girl.

Further Comments: A ghostly old man dressed in green, spotted by the vicar on many occasions during his Sunday services, was later identified as a former choirman who had died at the end of the nineteenth century.

Further Comments: Not much is known about this headless woman. Other than one witness mistook the reflection of the moon in water as the entity.

Further Comments: Killed in a motorcycle accident near the base during World War II, Catherine is said to have returned; she flags down motorists along the road and asks them to help her boyfriend who is injured down the road, only to vanish if assistance is granted.

Further Comments: This large hound was seen several times on the road, always vanishing at the same place. Other animals also felt the presence of the creature, with one pony refusing to travel down the road - the owner had to go the rest of the journey on foot. The same area was also haunted by a woman in a white apron.

Further Comments: A phantom woman is said to emerge from a bottomless pit along this road, close to the Trent, and cross the countryside.

Further Comments: A local news outlet reported that the hall was haunted by a servant who fell pregnant after a fling with the owner's son - he murdered her. Former staff who worked at the site would report waking at night and seeing a sobbing girl at the foot of their beds.

Further Comments: The ghost of a witch was blamed for pushing people off the small bridge that crossed the stream here. Three parsons gave the entity a live stag, which was torn apart by the witch, and while she was distracted, the holy men banished the phantom into an iron pot.

Further Comments: While it was not clear what made horses frightened while crossing this bridge, it was thought to have something to do with the gibbet that once stood close by.

Further Comments: It was possible to see one's future husband by walking backwards up to and around the spring three times before kneeling and gazing into the water.
The Black Shuck.
Location: Northorpe - Churchyard

Date / Time: Circa early to mid nineteenth century
Further Comments: This churchyard is rumoured to be the haunt of the black shuck, which may have been a shape-changing local wizard. Another tale says the dog's remains were bricked up in the church walls and he is nothing more than a folk memory of the interment.

Further Comments: The ghostly Mrs Slarum was said to walk around wearing a stiff silk dress.

Further Comments: This witness spotted an airman in officer uniform standing at ease and watching them. The witness speculated that the ghost was related to a Lancaster bomber which crashed nearby in 1943.
