Further Comments: One former owner of the property claimed to have seen a phantom dog run up the staircase and disappear into a room that was known as the 'ghost room'. The room had the reputation of being haunted by a resident who took his own life after some romantic related rejection.

Further Comments: Builders working on the building heard footsteps crossing an upper story floor which had just been removed. Doors have also been heard to bang shut unaided by human hand, and an electrician left the site after his lamp was thrown through the air.

Further Comments: Whitstable was founded after the Devil tried to steal the buildings of Canterbury - he was caught, and dropped the stolen houses eight miles away, where they stayed.

Further Comments: Members of the George Fitt Social Club heard organ music fill the room and initially thought it to have come from the nearby former cinema, until they investigated and found the site empty.

Further Comments: A group of four people in the church yard at night reported seeing a small entity with glowing red eyes run by them. They quickly left after hearing a strange whistling and watching a fast moving cloud cover the area. There are other stories which involve small figures seen standing by the edge of the woods.

Further Comments: After having his wife seduced by an Irishman, an officer killed the offending person in question. Several years later, the wife discovered the body, and realised the Irishman was in fact another woman. The spirit of a woman now walks the area, though none can say for sure which woman it is...

Further Comments: This invisible hound has been heard walking around the building. It is said to leave a tranquil air in its wake.

Further Comments: A woman spotted the apparition of a lady wearing blue clothing move through the driveway and approach the back door. The woman opened the door, but the lady had vanished. Another occupier of the property had also seen the same figure but had dismissed the sighting as a 'trick of the eye'.

Further Comments: The ghost which once haunted this building has not been seen for many years - it was thought to be the phantom of a man who committed suicide, who looked like any other person until he vanished suddenly.

Further Comments: Spread across a two-acre field, fish were found that were said to have rained down from the sky during a thunderstorm. Around thirty-six litres of fish were collected, each creature the size of a little finger.

Further Comments: The spirit here would patrol the building, opening any door that was closed before 1am. Two overnight guests who stayed awake to see the entity responsible for this behaviour were not disappointed - they watched a grey man open their guest room door at midnight, enter the bedroom and gaze out of the window before laughing hysterically.

Further Comments: A witness watched a red car enter and park up just before the vehicle was lost from sight as a fog bank briefly thickened. As the fog cleared, the car had gone - the witness had not heard an engine nor the wheels crunch on the loose stony surface of the park.

Further Comments: A legend says that if you walk around the Devils Kneading Trough seven times then drink the water from the natural spring, you will see the devil.

Further Comments: The chains heard rattling somewhere underground in this area were said to belong to the devil. One story said an underground tunnel existed in the area.

Further Comments: Working in the area of Olantigh Mount in the 1890s, a group of women heard a horse galloping towards them. The women all jumped to one side, expecting to be run down, but no horse could be seen. In 1931, two separate witnesses on different dates heard a horse approach before the sound suddenly ceased when near, once again with no creature visible. One witness claimed the phenomenon occurred three times during their journey, with a few minutes separating each event.

Further Comments: A gamekeeper at the house would hear clear and distinct talking along the wall but could never see anyone. The sound of laughter would be heard running along the top of the wall and ceasing at the end.

Further Comments: A driver hit a blonde woman who stood in the middle of the road. The lady smiled at the motorist as she bounced over the bonnet, and promptly vanished. The police were contacted, but no evidence of an accident could be detected.
