Several years later, people discovered a hidden skeleton on the island, with longer than average fingers. The ghost may now take the form of a glowing blue ball of light that vanishes as quickly as it appears.

Further Comments: This figure in white holds a red rose in her mouth and turns and walks into the fogou once spotted. Some say to see her will bring misfortune, and anyone foolish enough to follow her... well, no one as yet has followed her.

Further Comments: While combing her hair nearby, Saint Menfre was confronted by the Devil. She threw her comb at him, striking with such force he dug Lundy Hole in his haste to return to hell.

Further Comments: The garden of the vicarage is thought to be haunted by the shade of a former occupier by the name of Cole.

Further Comments: Locals knew the good fairy which lived here would cure the sick. It was also known to go on missions to locate and retrieve children stolen by other fairies with lesser morals. The stones found on the site are believed to have curative properties.

Further Comments: The holy well here is said to have cured the injured and diseased. Dropping pins or pebbles into the water and counting the bubbles which rose enabled time-based divination questions to be answered (one bubble equated to one year). Another legend associated with the location is that of King Arthur, who was told that the waters would burn a man who was not pure of heart. Arthur placed his hand in the water and pulled it out unscathed, but when Mordred tried, his hand was scalded.

Further Comments: In the days when horses were the main form of transport, this white woman would leap onto the back of a passing rider and refuse to leave until taken to the Red River, where she would vanish. The last witness, Buck Billy, died in 1840.

Further Comments: Hanging herself after being jilted by her lover, Elizabeth was said to appear at the church on the day her former partner was due to marry another woman.

Further Comments: This man-sized creature was seen several times over a period of years - a giant owl with glowing red eyes and pincers for feet. All the witnesses would appear to have been teenage or younger girls.

Further Comments: On a clear and calm night, a camper in this woodland could see two balls of light through the material of the tent. The camper's dog was also in the tent; normally quite boisterous, the hound quaked in the sleeping bag. The camper also said they experienced a strong sense of fear.

Further Comments: This ABC, possessing a vivid red coat, was blamed for the carcasses of several deer that appeared to have been eaten.

Further Comments: This location was said to home to a 'dark mood' which enveloped gardeners working in certain areas, such as the rockery, bothy, melon garden and fruit store. An exorcism is said to have been performed.

Further Comments: A driver along this road closed his eyes and prepared for a crash when this eighteenth century coach driven by four horses appeared in front of him - but the accident never happened, as the coach vanished into thin air. The witness later said he had also seen the driver and a guard on the coach.

Further Comments: For playing the ancient sport of hurling on a Sunday, these men were transformed into stone as a warning to others. As hurling had a habit of radically reducing life expectancy, it is rarely played today.

Further Comments: A car driver passing through the village watched in horror as a young girl dressed in Victorian clothing ran in front of a lorry. The lorry did not stop and appeared to hit the girl, but there was no one there and none of the other pedestrians in the area appeared to have noticed the incident. A few miles down the road the car driver narrowly avoided a serious accident, and once again briefly saw the phantom Victorian girl smiling, as if happy that the accident had been prevented.

Further Comments: One of the oldest pubs in England, the ghost of a sailor who haunts the building may be one of the unknown men washed up on the nearby beach.

Further Comments: Folklore says that Parson Hawker, proudly proclaimed a legend in his own lifetime by locals, has been heard walking about in his former church and other various areas of his old neighbourhood. In 2024, one witness looked up from their bible and spotted a figure in dark red robes, wearing wither a hood or a strange hat, standing in the centre aisle. The figure promptly evaporated. Many years ago, the church was due to be constructed in a different place, but the building materials were relocated by a supernatural agency to the place it now stands.
