Further Comments: Two men driving through the village encountered a 'colourless' horse and rider standing in the middle of the road. The rider appeared to be dressed in 17th century clothing. The horse then galloped away across a nearby field.

Further Comments: The monk was caught with a woman and killed for his crime. The entity now returns once a year. He may have last been seen in 1981 by a teenager who would search the woods near the abbey for old pots and pipes. After returning home one night from the woods, the teenager reportedly spotted a monk in a brown robe holding a lantern on a hooked pole outside his window. The abbey is also home to phantom horsemen, and Roesia of Dover who is looking for her heart (it was buried here by her father).

Further Comments: A ghostly coach being pulled by a team of horses is said to cross a ditch next to the fort, where once a drawbridge lay. The fort is also the site of an alleged suicide which is now re-enacted; the ghostly white figure is still seen dangling from the roof beams where he hanged himself.

Further Comments: Nicknamed the Spittal Hill Tut, this ghostly entity would take the form of a small horse. The entity grabbed one man passing through the area on horseback, almost crushing him to death. Some believed the Tut existed to protect some treasure concealed beneath the hill.

Further Comments: While walking home from the Bull Hotel, Dave Robson heard the thumping of hooves approach him. Within moments, a dark cloaked figure wearing a big hat and holding a gun dashed by on horseback before vanishing near a group of trees.
