Black Panther

Location: Haverfordwest (Dyfed) - Road just outside the town
Type: ABC
Date / Time: March 2005
Further Comments: Witness Dixie Tilley was cycling near the town when he saw what looked like a black panther. Dixie said the creature disappeared under a fence when he cycled within thirty metres of its location.

Puma

Location: Haverhill (Suffolk) - A1071 Sturnmer Roundabout, and general area

Further Comments: The Big Cats of Suffolk website reports that large felines have been seen in and around Haverhill for over twenty years, ranging from black leopards to creatures resembling puma and lynx.

Puma

Location: Hayle (Cornwall) - St Ives Bay Holiday Park
Type: ABC
Date / Time: 1990s
Further Comments: This cat was videoed by one witness, while other people saw the creature with a rabbit in its mouth. A zookeeper on holiday spotted the creature and identified it as a large cat.

Roadkill

Location: Hayling Island (Hampshire) - Exact location not known

Further Comments: A jungle cat was knocked over and killed along a road on the island, though sightings of other large cats continued for a while afterwards.

Cream Coloured Wolf

Location: Henham (Hertfordshire) - Back roads towards Thaxted from Stortford
Type: ABC
Date / Time: May 2011
Further Comments: A cream coloured wolf was spotted by occupants of a car while passing through this area. They stopped close to the creature which did not run off, apparently unfazed by the human presence. A few days later they observed the creature again. Some believe the creature to be more mundane and is a large German Shepherd.

Sleek Black Cat

Location: Hinckley (Leicestershire) - Fields along the A5

Date / Time: 15 December 2014, 15:15h
Further Comments: A large cat, described as sleek and black, was spotted by a witness stalking along a hedgerow. The creature was said to be around six foot in length, and between 300 and 500 yards away.

Cats

Location: Hollesley (Suffolk) - Shingle Street and general area

Date / Time: 1975 (circa), 2004, 2008, 2010s
Further Comments: In 2004 a prison guard spotted a large cat along a road, and four years later another witness encountered a large brown cat. Big Cats of Suffolk website reported that a forester had been warned by colleagues about large cats in the area during the 1970s, and in 2013 stool, hair and field signs were found.

Panther

Further Comments: A woman who spotted a large, slinky cat with green / blue eyes while driving along a lane reported the encounter to the local press.

Church Cat

Further Comments: A large cat was observed by the church, standing around 25 meters from the witness.

Cats' Eyes

Location: Houghton-Le-Spring (Tyne and Wear) - Seven Sisters Round Barrow

Date / Time: 17 December 2019, 21:00h
Further Comments: While walking along the track passing close to Seven Sisters, a witness spotted cat's eyes reflecting in their torch beam. The witness turned off the light, and when they turned it back on about a minute later, the torchlight reflected multiple pairs of eyes. The witness said the eyes were between knee and waist height and moved very fast.

Black and Stocky Cat

Location: Huddersfield (West Yorkshire) - Meltham

Further Comments: The local newspaper offered five hundred pounds to the first person to photograph the large black cat which had been spotted locally dozens of times over a ten year period.

Waist-High Cat

Location: Ilkeston (Derbyshire) - Bridge Street

Date / Time: 29 May 2025, just after midnight
Further Comments: A man walking his dog encountered a large black cat that stood around waist-height. He reported the encounter to a police officer who he spotted on the way home, although the officer could not locate the cat.

Cat Attack

Location: Inkberrow (Worcestershire) - St Peter's churchyard

Further Comments: While hunting for the locally named 'Beast of Inkberrow', Nick and Sally Dyke discovered the cat in the churchyard - it knocked Nick over and took a swipe at Sally before running off. She was left with three ten centimetre long claw marks down one side.

Deer Hunter

Location: Inverkip (Inverclyde) - Hills in the area

Further Comments: A local hill walker discovered a baby deer which had been torn apart. The man speculated it was killed by a large cat, as the damage done to the dead creature far surpassed anything he had encountered before.

Birkfield Drive, Ipswich.

Large Cat

Location: Ipswich (Suffolk) - Birkfield Drive
Type: ABC
Date / Time: Mid 2010s
Further Comments: A man walking home late had encountered a handful of police searching the edge of a small, wooded area. He asked the closest police officer if everything was okay, only to be told that they had had a report of a large black cat in this location and were searching for it.

Foxhall Road, Ipswich.

A Very Black Cat

Location: Ipswich (Suffolk) - East Ipswich (Felix Road, Foxhall Road areas)

Date / Time: 21 August 2006
Further Comments: The local paper reported that two people had seen a large cat, 'very black' in colour, in separate incidents. The first was along Felix Road at around 03:30h, followed by the Foxhall Road sighting two hours later. One witness said that the cat was not as big as a panther but was much larger than a normal cat.

Paws

Location: Ipswich (Suffolk) - Kelly Road

Further Comments: Part of a rash of sightings of ABCs in and around the Ipswich area during 1996. The cat was nicknamed 'Paws' by the local press and a reward was posted for evidence. In the 2000s a witness came forward to say that the 'cat' was a black Labrador which would run freely around the area, and most locals were aware of this at the time.

Big Black Cat

Location: Ipswich (Suffolk) - Tuddenham Road (near pet cemetery (no longer present))

Further Comments: Seen by a car full of people as it crossed the road, the cat was as large as a tiger with a jet black coat. Locals were unconvinced and named a local dog as the likely explanation.

Black Cat

Further Comments: The first alien big cat was reported close to Loch na Keal, where it would remain (fleetingly spotted) over the next twenty years.

Fen Tiger

Further Comments: The police were notified after a large, black cat with a long tail was spotted in the area.
