Further Comments: This pub is reputedly haunted by the ghost of a young nanny who leapt to her death from one of the attic bedrooms during the late nineteenth century.

White Lady

Further Comments: The gates to this hall are reportedly haunted by a white lady who has unnerved several drivers through the village.

Lady Mary

Location: Holkham - Holkham Hall

Date / Time: Twentieth century?
Further Comments: Lady Anne Glenconner told a local newspaper that Lady Mary haunted the site and would make Glenconner's sister cry. The phantom lady would also open locked doors and be heard moving around in the cellar and the attic.

Priest with his Throat Cut

Location: Holme Hale - Bury's Hall, Green Room & grounds

Further Comments: Murdered by Cromwell's soldiers, a priest is said to walk the grounds, his throat slit. A girl has also been reported in the area.

Priest with Young Girl

Location: Holme Hale - Hall's Green Room

Date / Time: Easter (Reoccurring)
Further Comments: Once frequently seen in and around the Green Room, a priest and a girl are supposed to haunt the building. The priest is believed to have been killed on Good Friday by Cromwellian soldiers; hence the sightings tend to occur around the Easter period.

Sounds of Fighting

Further Comments: A couple of witnesses reported hearing horses and fighting which moved through the village street and over a field in the early hours of the morning.

Frail Shadowy Form of a Girl

Location: Horning - Ferry Inn

Date / Time: 1500s onwards, seen once every 20 years?
Further Comments: Raped and murdered by a group of monks, the twenty five year old girl in the green dress has been observed gliding through the bar of the inn, disappearing into the river outside. She has also been seen along the riverbank close to the abbey.

Children's Paradise

Further Comments: Said to be the burial place of maybe thousands of children from the days of the Romans, they are said to return once a year to play for a couple of hours.

Highwayman

Location: Horsford - Holt Road, north of village

Date / Time: June / July over several years in 2000s
Further Comments: A phantom highwayman with his cloak thrown over one shoulder is reputed to haunt this road. The figure disappears as any witness approaches.

Coach

Location: Horstead - Meyton bridge

Date / Time: 19 May (reoccurring)
Further Comments: A ghostly coach and four passes over this bridge once a year. It is said to be driven by a headless Sir Thomas Boleyn and is one of eleven (or twelve) bridges that he passes over on the night of his daughter Anne's execution.

The 19:45 to King's Lynn

Location: Hunstanton - Disused rail track between Hunstanton and King's Lynn

Further Comments: This train crashed in August 1863, killing six people. Even though the line was removed from service during the 1960s, people still reported a phantom locomotive travelling along for several years after.

Golden Lion Hotel, Hunstanton, Norfolk.

Young Girl with Ringlets

Location: Hunstanton - Golden Lion Hotel

Further Comments: A female guest at the hotel claimed to have woken up during the night to see a young girl with soft ringlets, wearing a blue and white dress in an 'old fashion style'. She appeared at the end of the witness's bed before skipping over to a wardrobe in the corner of the room.

Walking Stone Knights

Location: Ingham - Trinitarian Priory

Date / Time: 01 August or 02 August (reoccurring) - stone knights, dancing monks unknown
Further Comments: Chas Sampson wrote that the two stone knights in the church are said to wake once a year and go for a walk to the water's edge. Here they fight an Asian soldier in uniform, before walking back. Other stories claim that phantom dancing monks can occasionally be seen in the area.

Rector of Ingoldisthorpe?

Location: Ingoldisthorpe - The Drift

Further Comments: A young male witnessed a floating glowing lantern down the bottom of The Drift while walking a dog. The dog stopped dead in his tracks and refused to go any further. The witness's family found a document online which claimed the exact same thing was last seen there in 1961, and it is believed to be the apparition of the Victorian Rector of Ingoldisthorpe who suspected his wife of not being honourable.

Cold Spot

Location: King's Lynn - Private residence, close to the docks

Further Comments: Perhaps attached to a visitor who briefly stayed at this house, the site was subjected to several poltergeist-like incidents. These included a cold spot, bangs and doors opening unaided. A shadowy figure was seen in the kitchen, briefly mistaken for a real person before it faded away.

Lady in Black

Location: King's Lynn - Private residence, Seabank area

Further Comments: A former occupant of this home reported hearing disembodied footsteps walking up and down the staircase at night. Doors and windows would also bang shut. On one occasion the witness awoke to see a woman in black and dark grey. It was said that an exorcism was performed on the site prior to the family moving in.

The Bride

Further Comments: This woman killed herself the day after being wed - her ghost loiters around the Purfleet area before screaming and throwing itself into the quay waters. Other screams, belonging to fighting soldiers, can also be heard in the area, during which the water runs red with blood.

Further Comments: Shortly after a wedding, the bride was stabbed to death by her new husband in the hotel. Since then, a short woman in a long white dress has been spotted and phantom footsteps heard.

Lantern Carrier

Location: King's Lynn - The Walks (Park)

Further Comments: This figure walking around carrying an unlit lantern caused a witness to report his encounter to the police. Locals armed with clubs and stones attempted to hunt the ghost, which was soon discovered to be a scientist looking for moths.
