Woman with Small Dog
Location: Southerness - Main Street from the lighthouse
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: 1985, just after midnight
Further Comments: A witness walked towards a lady wearing a long cloak that concealed her face. The lady also had with her a small dog and spoke to the witness as they passed, but as the witness turned to respond, both lady and dog had vanished.
Water Thrower
Location: Stranraer - Caldenoch castle

Further Comments: The area near the castle was haunted by a ghost that soaked anyone who came to close - it was exorcised by a local holy man.
Hanged Man
Location: Torrorie - Field once known locally as 'Murder Fall'

Further Comments: This ghost, thought to be that of a hanged man, was recognisable due to the handles resembling those from a large pot which sat on his neck.
Wailing
Location: Tynron - Fields around Maqueston

Date / Time: Early to mid nineteenth century
Further Comments: A local legend said that a former owner of Maqueston had killed several children and hidden their remains around the area. The wailing of the ghosts was said to have driven away several servants of the new owner.
Young Male Rider
Location: Tynron - Tynron castle

Further Comments: The area around the castle is haunted by a decapitated horseman. The ghost is thought to be a man who tried to marry a girl residing at the castle, but her brothers chased him away. During the pursuit, the young man fell from his horse and lost his head.
Wheels
Location: Tynron - Unnamed house
Type: Crisis Manifestation

Further Comments: Residents in this unnamed property would hear wheels on a gravel footpath leading up to their door prior to a death in the family.
Galdus's Grave
Location: Wigtown - Torhouse Stone Circle

Further Comments: The final resting place of King Galdus is thought to be under one of these large stones.
