Moving Elevator

Location: Birkdale - Palace Hotel (no longer standing)
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: April 1969
Further Comments: The hotel, in particular the lift and the second floor, suffered from ghostly activity while demolition of the building was occurring; the lift often moved on its own accord (or failed to move when required), even though all power to the building had been cut. The ghost was named as the designer of the building, who leapt from the roof after he discovered the hotel had been built facing the wrong way.

Old Tram

Location: Bispham - Tram station

Further Comments: An old tram is said to travel along the tracks to the station at the same time every morning. A paranormal team known as Spirits and Sinners investigated, and while they did not see the tram, their electrical equipment played up and they spotted a strange light which illuminated a display teddy bear.

Strange Trees

Young Child Running

Further Comments: A child running around the fields was once commonly seen here just prior to the Second World War, even though he was killed on the nearby railway tracks as the First World War raged.

Tina Turner Fan

Man in a top hat

Further Comments: A local story says that a man died after falling into a large pipe in the organ room. In 2012 a ghost hunting team claimed to have seen a man in a top hat with a damaged face and children running around corridors.

Galloping Horses

Further Comments: A woman waiting for the bus watched a herd of horses stampede close by, but no one else had seen them. A few years later she discovered someone else had also, more recently, seen the herd in the same area.

A ghostly lady in white walks along a street.

White Woman

Location: Blackburn - Private house off Moor Street (may no longer exist)

Further Comments: A woman in white took up residence in one man's house, on one occasion causing him to faint as she approached. One story said the woman was the ghost of someone who had burnt to death nearby twelve years previous, while others maintained the entity was merely someone acting the part.

Dorothy Southworth

Location: Blackburn - Samlesbury Hall (part of the building now a restaurant), and road outside

Further Comments: This pale female spectre haunts an area of the garden where her lover was killed. It is said she is sometimes accompanied by a knight. A bus driver travelling on the road by the hall reported stopping to let a pale girl climb on board, only for her to vanish. In May 2006, the owner of a newly opened restaurant within the building reported a white figure which ran past him before crossing the road and vanishing into nearby fields.

Illuminated Woman

Further Comments: A town lost off the coast of Blackpool many years ago, the bells can be heard ringing on stormy nights. The bells may have last been heard by a mother and daughter walking near Sandcastle Water Park.

Footsteps

Further Comments: The drummer from the musical act The Bachelors refused to return to their rented house after encountering a poltergeist. The entity would move furniture, play with the light switches, and could be heard walking the staircase at six o'clock every evening.

Cyclist

Further Comments: While walking along the promenade, a witness watched as a cyclist slowly approached him. The witness looked away for a moment, and when looking back ready to move out of the way, the cyclist had vanished, with no visible exits for them to have taken. After the sighting, the witness realised that the cyclist and his bike had been a single colour, either dark blue or grey.
