Woman with Burnt Hands

Further Comments: This horrid looking woman has had the skin burnt off her face and hands. She is accompanied by the smell of dead burning flowers, and a drop in temperature.

Anne Boleyn

Location: Hever - Bridge over the Eden
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: 24 December (reoccurring)
Further Comments: Boleyn's spirit crosses the bridge once a year. The area is also haunted by a farmer, robbed and murdered nearby.

Pilot?

Location: Higham - Canal Road
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Several times in 2010s, between 19:00h - 20:00h
Further Comments: Several dog walkers had seen a man dressed in black with a white stripe on his outfit along this road, his silence when spoken to a topic of discussion between the pet owners. One dog owner then reported that the man had disappeared in front of their eyes and refused to walk his dog in the same area. One person researched the area and found that a German aircraft had crashed here, speculating that the man in black was a pilot.

Dog Walker

Location: Higham - Former railway line between Higham and Wykin

Further Comments: A woman who died on the railway track in 1885 while looking for her lost dog could be heard whistling and calling for the hound for years after the accident. The sounds continued after the line closed and the track dismantled.

Goat

Location: Higham - Gads Hill Place

Further Comments: During a book lecture, Alfred Tennyson Dickens claimed that servants at his home had threatened to leave after being scared by a ghost. Dickens and his sons investigated and discovered a strange sounding white shape, which transpired to be an aging goat.

Shadows

Further Comments: Kent Arboreal reported working on a site which was plagued by bangs, knocks, and darting shadows. Another supplier refused to be on the site alone. On one occasion, after a loud bang occurred when workers and the owner were present, the owner asked witnesses not to say anything.

Little Man

Location: Hollingbourne - Eyhorne Manor
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Poltergeist circa 1970, others unknown
Further Comments: The ghost of a small man has been seen, while disembodied footsteps have been heard in the grounds, and in the bedroom invisible clothing has been heard moving. Poltergeist activity was encountered around 1970, when the family reported that something would lift items from surfaces and drop them to the floor. It may be in this building that the ghost of Catherine Howard has also been seen.

Galloping

Location: Hollingbourne - Hollingbourne House, north of village

Further Comments: Heard only at night (and it is said seen only during the day) a ghostly horseman haunts the north part of the village, near where he failed to jump a gate, breaking his neck in the process.

Jet Black Car

Location: Hook Green - Road from village leading to Bell's Yew Green

Further Comments: This dark limousine has been watched moving silently down the road, disappearing if another car comes too close.

Man in Long Coat

Location: Horsham - Private residence, Tower Hill area
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: February - March 1978
Further Comments: The owners gave chase when they spotted a tall figure in a long grey coat enter the back of their house, but the figure vanished. During renovations on the property, one builder heard noises from an empty room above, while another builder who had worked alone left the building and spotted a figure looking down through a landing window.

Robert the Wizard

Further Comments: A highwayman of local fame and folklore, the headless ghost of Robert appeared to a local woman who had recently moved to her new home.

Landlady

Location: Hythe - Bell Inn
Type: Haunting Manifestation

Further Comments: The inn is reputedly home to a grey lady, who was a former landlady who died in childbirth, and two revenue men whose bodies were hidden within the building.

Catherine Scothers

Location: Hythe - King's Head Inn

Further Comments: Scothers was named as the phantom who would open locked doors around the site.

Dame Dorothy Selby

Location: Ightham - Ightham Mote

Further Comments: While the legends say this lady was killed by (or on the orders of) Guy Fawkes for warning the authorities about the Gunpowder Plot, it is quite unlikely to be the case. However, even if not the Dame, a spirit does walk the building, and is held accountable for the mysterious cold spots.

Figure in Silver Suit

Location: Isle of Sheppey - Roadside of Sheppey Way

Further Comments: A figure in a baggy silver suit climbed down a grassy verge by the roadside, watched by several motorists. It is thought this has a connection with a UFO seen a few hours earlier in the area.

Triangle

Location: Istead Rise - Skies above village

Further Comments: A large triangular craft was watched as it moved irregularly across the sky. It made no sound and would occasionally disappear and reappear.

Knight in Shining Armour

Further Comments: This gallant looking figure rides up to the church, enters the building and briefly prays at the altar before vanishing again until another year goes by.

Materialising Figure

Location: Kemsley - Bowaters Mill, shower room
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: Appearing to several men at different times, this spirit would appear once the witness had entered the shower. Two of the men ran from the room naked, such was their horror.

Raining Money

Location: Kenardington - St Mary's Churchyard

Further Comments: Reports say that it has rained money in this graveyard several times, but do not become too enthusiastic - the coinage is always pre-decimal.

Popham's Polt

Location: Kennington - Private residences, Upper Vicarage Road
Type: Poltergeist
Date / Time: April 1977 - 1978
Further Comments: The Popham family featured in newspaper stories when poltergeist activity broke out in their home following structural alterations they had made. Lights would turn on and off, the television changed channels, and a kitchen cupboard opened and spilt the Christmas drink supply. The entity was also blamed for holding the bathroom door shut, preventing Mrs Popham from leaving. Another nearby family said their home also experienced poltergeist activity.

Nurse

Location: Kings Hill - Private residence

Further Comments: The resident of one of the properties built on a former RAF airfield has said they have seen a nurse in an old fashioned uniform, an airman's head and a shadowy figure moving across their hallway.

Highwayman

Location: Knockholt - Harrow Inn

Further Comments: A highwayman hanged on gallows that once stood outside this building is still said to make his presence known in the area.

Religious Procession

Location: Lamberhurst - Bayham Abbey

Further Comments: On still, moonless nights, a line of monks have been observed in these ruins. Plainchant has also been heard and the smell of incense detected by tourists at the site.

Horse Mover

Location: Lamberhurst - Furnace Mill Farm
Type: Poltergeist
Date / Time: 1906
Further Comments: This playful spirit succeeded in transporting a horse into a hayloft through a gap so small that a wall had to be knocked down to remove the creature! Large barrels were also transported around the site, unhindered by guards and their dogs.

Bus

Location: Lamberhurst - Road between town and Frant
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Twentieth century
Further Comments: Witnesses report seeing this vehicle coming towards them along narrow parts of the road; they pull in to give way, only to see the bus vanish. An earlier version of the story says the bus (or coach) is seen parked at the side of the road but vanishes when witnesses pass.
