Further Comments: Soldiers billeted at the hall would report seeing a ghostly woman at night - one young trooper discharged a pistol at the entity, the bullet passing straight through. The woman is thought to have taken her own life after being forbidden to marry a coachman.

Mother and Child

Further Comments: The wife of Sir John de Rhodes is said to have died at his hands around the start of the seventeenth century, after giving birth to their blind son. Her ghost and that of the son were once said to walk around the ruins of the hall.

Further Comments: The marks on the hill near the church were said to be the location where a dragon once laid. The church is named after Margaret of Antioch, who was swallowed by a dragon but escaped when her crucifix caused irritation.

Evil Hill

Further Comments: The area was once thought to be a place of evil - no birds would sing in the area, and it was thought haunted by a headless hound. A headless man was also reported in the region.

Coach & Eight
Location: Youlgreave - Road between Youlgreave and Middleton, area known as Roughwood Hollow?

Further Comments: A gamekeeper was forced to flatten himself against a wall as a phantom coach pulled by a team of eight horses thundered past. Other reports of the coach along the same stretch of road state that the team is accompanied by several hounds.
