Further Comments: This figure, complete with cloak, has been seen drifting around the front door and the gentlemen's toilets. He is said to be the driver of a local mayor who was murdered by a highwayman shortly after leaving the pub.

Further Comments: Reportedly the size of a small horse, this phantom dog will follow lonely walkers on the beach for short distances before vanishing.

Deryck Carver

Further Comments: Deryck Carver was burnt at the stake in 1555 and is believed to have been the first brewer in Brighton. Since the 1940s it has been claimed his ghost haunts the cellar, and in 2006 the manager of the building claimed have felt a unnerving presence in that area on several occasions. A builder in the upper part of the building spotted a shadowy figure in 1995.

Christine Holford

Further Comments: Club owner Harvey Holford was found guilty of manslaughter after shooting and killing his wife. Shortly after Holford's conviction, lights in the building would turn themselves on and off and kitchen utensils moved themselves around the room. The poltergeist left after a medium visited the club.

Constable Henry Soloman

Further Comments: Soloman was killed around the middle of the eighteenth century, after being hit around the head with a red hot poker during the attempted escape of a prisoner in the cells. The former officer's ghost reportedly haunts the basement, while the upper parts of the building are haunted by a monk; a remnant from when a monastery stood on the site.

Flashing Lights

Further Comments: This public house was once plunged into chaos by a poltergeist - it played with door locks, moved furniture around, and would flick the lights on and off at speed.

Further Comments: Locals christened this entity 'Charlie', and blamed him for moving furnishings, flicking lights on and off, locking and unlocking doors, and generating other minor mischief.

Further Comments: Bottles and glasses would fall off shelves, doors were heard to slam shut, and footsteps were heard climbing the stairs. On several occasions a pale man wearing a long black cloak was spotted by one manager. In addition, the grey nun which haunts the Lanes has been seen just outside the inn.

Hooded Figure

Further Comments: Always seen from the corner of one's eye, a good description of this spirit was never forthcoming. However, another ghost in the building moves slightly slower - a woman in a red dress has been seen on one occasion in vicinity of the main bar.

Disabled Girl

Further Comments: This young girl jumped from one of the upstairs windows - her ghost mirrors her actions, though it now vanishes as it leaps into a wall, as the window was bricked up many years ago. Another female shade that totters around the building is the Victorian landlady.

Further Comments: This ghostly figure appeared quite frequently as the time came closer to the demolition of Clocktower Antiques building. Neighbouring buildings also reported hearing noises coming from rooms that were empty.

Further Comments: This figure, possibly a former landlady and seemingly made of misty material, was seen as it drifted through a startled barman. It may have been responsible for the brief outbreak of poltergeist activity that occurred earlier in the twentieth century, or that could be attributed to the ghost of a young disabled girl who jumped from a window.
