An early kingdom of the Anglo-Saxons. Although now famous for
the earliest recorded town (Colchester) in Roman times, when the
Britons burnt the town and temple to the ground, Essex once included
Middlesex, London and most of Hertfordshire. Now dwindled and
unfortunately seen as one of the 'home counties', one can still
find a seam of cultural wealth and paranormal stories amidst the salt marshes and market
towns.
