Taliesin's Grave

Further Comments: Taliesin, the sixth century chief bard of Britain, is reputed to be buried under this barrow. His bones are protected by magical means - the last time an attempt was made to excavate them, a storm suddenly erupted and scared the diggers away.

Loud Footsteps

Location: Tefin (Dyfed) - House built on very old cottages along the main road.

Further Comments: The source unknown, this house is reportedly haunted by the sounds of knocking at night, footsteps running up the staircase during the day, and voices which can be heard downstairs by people trying to sleep upstairs.

Headless Group

Location: Tenby (Dyfed) - Between Tenby and Sampson Cross

Date / Time: Every night (reoccurring)
Further Comments: A headless team of horses driven by a headless coachman carries a headless lady in a coach along this road every night. As they reach the crossroads known as Sampson Cross, some ten miles from their starting point, they all disappear in a large explosion. Some people believe the entities have been laid, and now rest in a nearby lake.

Man in Black

Further Comments: Thought to be a former parish priest, this ghostly figure in a cassock walks down the aisle before fading away.


Location: Tenby (Dyfed) - Number 1 The Paragon

Date / Time: Mid twentieth century
Further Comments: A mother and daughter living at the property reported hearing heavy footsteps followed by the scraping of a piece of furniture being dragged across the floor. Each blamed the other for the sounds until a family discussion reviled no one living at the house was the cause.

Water Fairy

Location: The Black Mountain (Dyfed) - Llyn y Fan Fach mountain lake

Date / Time: Circa thirteenth century
Further Comments: A legend tells of a lake fairy that once emerged from Llyn y Fan Fach and married a local man. She eventually returned home to the lake after her husband hit her, but only after bearing him three sons; she later returned to teach them medical skills.

Whistling Ghost

Location: Tintern (Gwent) - Anchor Inn

Further Comments: One of the spirits here can be heard playing what sounds like a tin whistle, while the other takes the form of a white lady who searches the building for her missing son.

Saxon Soldier

Location: Tintern (Gwent) - Tintern Abbey

Further Comments: This soldier's spirit finally passed over to the other side when Mass was given for him by a couple out on holiday near the site.

Gliding Figure

Location: Tondu (Mid Glamorgan) - Area around Ynysawdre (or Ynisawdro) farm, no longer present

Date / Time: Circa September 1904
Further Comments: A gaunt figure was said to have been observed by a witness as it drifted around the area. Two locals looking for this ghost heard a horse galloping towards them, but nothing could be seen. The horse continued and passed on by, invisible to the witnesses.

Carried Away

Location: Tonypandy (Mid Glamorgan) - Private residence, Amelia Terrace, Llwynypia

Further Comments: Mrs Downe was pulled from her chair by a phantom which proceeded to drag her to a water closet. The entity instructed Downe to remove an item from a wall, which she did, before pulling the woman out of her house to a nearby pond. Downe was instructed to throw the item (it is not specified what it was) into the water. Having done so, the ghost told Downe that she would not be troubled again.

Young Lady

Location: Towyn (Clwyd) - Area around Aberdovey Road

Further Comments: This phantom was said to be beautiful and dressed in mourning clothes. Several people were reported to have seen her, although no first-hand witness statements were documented.

Further Comments: A phantom coach pulled by ghostly horses was spotted as it passed through the village.


Location: Trefeglwys (Powys) - Shepherd's Cottage (likely no longer standing), nicknamed Place of Strife

Further Comments: A few months after giving birth to twins, the mother noticed her children had been exchanged with fairy children as they did not grow. After consulting a wise man, the woman threw the children into the waters of Llyn Ebyr. Goblins in blue trousers suddenly appeared and snatched the changelings from the water. The woman's real children were quickly returned.

John and Lucy

Further Comments: The landlord of this pub reported that two ghosts haunted the property, going by the names of John and Lucy.

Further Comments: Wearing her Victorian clothing, Mary's ghost stands near Old Park Road.

Mary George

Further Comments: This deceased woman was said to have been seen a few times passing along the road in daylight hours, dressed in her Victorian attire.

White Figure

Further Comments: A married couple watched a white entity appear close to them before passing through a gate and vanishing near some ruined cottages. This coincided with a death in their family.

Sunken Village

Location: Tregaron (Dyfed) - Llyn-y-Maes

Further Comments: This lake covers what is said to be the original Tregaron - within a few hours, the village was burnt to the ground and then flooded with water to atone for the sins of the evil villagers, who all died during the event.

Modern Man

Location: Tregarth (Gwynedd) - Terraced house along Godre'r Parc

Further Comments: The family here moved out after their six children were scared by a six foot fall ghost wearing contemporary clothing. A local priest held an exorcism which failed to banish the entity.

Roman Soldiers

Location: Trelawnyd (Clwyd) - Gop Carn

Further Comments: Ghostly Roman troops have been reported patrolling the site. Some believe the hill is the final resting place of Boudicca, others say it is that of a Roman general.

Further Comments: One witness heard invisible hounds moving down the road. Shortly after, a woman visiting Trelech died, and the route her body was taken matched that of the dogs.

Fairy Meet

Further Comments: Fairies are said to make their presence known around this area once a year.

Christmas Spirit

Location: Trellech (Gwent) - Crown Inn

Further Comments: A brief but violent outburst from a poltergeist was reported in the inn for a two week period. On the day before Christmas, the invisible entity vigorously shook a decorated tree before taking leave of the building.
