UFO Sightings and Alien Encounters

Circular Lights

Location: Great Ryburgh (Norfolk) - Skies in the area
Type: UFO
Date / Time: Mid-1990s
Further Comments: At least three witnesses observed a very large circle of flashing lights for ten minutes as it crossed the sky. The lights moved both clockwise and anticlockwise, while another set pulsated.

Green Light

Location: Greenock (Inverclyde) - Skies over area
Type: UFO
Date / Time: 01 May 2008
Further Comments: This witness spotted a solid green glowing ufo with an orange trail as it crossed the sky heading east. The object generated no sound.

Abduction

Location: Grimsby (Lincolnshire) - Tetney Lock
Type: UFO
Date / Time: March 2000
Further Comments: This female abductee reported watching a male human vivisected while she was on board the alien craft. Later the same day, several witnesses reported lights and strange shapes in the sky.

Triangular Craft

Location: Guildford (Surrey) - A3, Guildford Flyover
Type: UFO
Date / Time: October 2006, around 20:00h
Further Comments: Two police officers spotted a bright white light in the distance while driving along the A3. As they drove under the light at the flyover, they could make out three white lights on a black triangle shape with a dim pulsating red light in the centre. Other drivers had pulled over and watched the shape. Eight more lights were spotted drifting over Guildford.

Red Light & Blue Man

Location: Hainault Forest Country Park (Essex) - Lake and Cabin Hill
Type: UFO
Date / Time: 05 and 08 May 1977
Further Comments: Two police officers watched a large red light moving by the lake - as they approached it vanished suddenly. The officers then spotted a strange white object; this also vanished. Three days later, two men walking their dogs encountered a blue figure that stood around 2.5 metres tall and 1.25 metres wide. Like the UFOs, this figure also vanished.

Red Lights

Location: Halewood (Lancashire) - General area
Type: UFO
Date / Time: 2003/2004
Further Comments: Seven red lights were seen bobbing up and down as they slowly moved across the sky before fading away. The witness was told the lights were actually 'light reflecting off migrating birds', although they had not seen this effect prior to the sighting or since. The village was considered a hotspot for UFO sightings during the early 2000s.

CE III

Location: Halkyn Mountain (Clwyd) - Exact location not known
Type: UFO
Date / Time: 1982
Further Comments: An alien contactee claimed to have witnessed a ufo landing on the mountain, where the craft left imprints. The witness was later contacted by a strange being with short curly hair who wore a blue jumpsuit.

Downed Craft Hoax

Location: Haltwhistle (Northumberland) - Ten miles north of town in a marshy area
Type: UFO
Date / Time: December 1968
Further Comments: A witness wrote to the RAF claiming he had seen a large silver disc crash and that he had investigated inside the craft before it had (mostly) sunk into the marsh. The RAF asked the police to investigate; the witness admitted that while he had seen the craft and thought it was going to land, he had fabricated the rest of the tale.

Hanbury Orbs

Location: Hanbury (Staffordshire) - Skies near the village
Type: UFO
Date / Time: 2005
Further Comments: A BBC cameraman caught three bright lights hovering over the Malverns on video. A local UFO group named them as the 'Hanbury Orbs', a group of lights commonly seen above the landscape in this region.

Black Cylinder

Location: Harlow Hill (Northumberland) - West of Harlow Hill
Type: UFO
Date / Time: March 1985
Further Comments: Four people watched a black cylindrical object, possibly rotating, for ten minutes as it crossed the sky. The object changed direction once, moving north to south before turning west.

Flashing Lights

Location: Hemblington (Norfolk) - Field in the area
Type: UFO
Date / Time: 1997
Further Comments: Five people out metal detecting all watched the sky light up with flashing red, blue, purple and green lights which illuminated the field which they stood on. The lights stopped suddenly.

William Loosley's Abduction

Location: High Wycombe (Buckinghamshire) - Woodland near the town, but exact location non-existent
Type: UFO
Date / Time: 4 / 5 October 1871 (fictitious)
Further Comments: A hoax penned by David Langford, the premise being that the great, great granddaughter of William Loosley discovered a hidden account of his UFO sighting on the 4 October 1871, one day before William mysteriously vanished forever.

Flying Cross

Location: Holworth (Dorset) - Skies over Moigne Down
Type: UFO
Date / Time: October 1967
Further Comments: Two police officers chased a large cross-shaped UFO in this area as it flew low overhead. Another witness observed the craft later in the evening hovering and spinning on the spot.

Bright Lights

Location: Holymoorside (Derbyshire) - Windy Fields Road
Type: UFO
Date / Time: 06 February 2020, 19:30h
Further Comments: While walking their dog, a witness watched several fast moving bright lights high in the sky performing irregular manoeuvres. The witness later checked for aircraft in the area, but the UFOs could not be explained by the few aircraft which were out on the night in question.

Fast Ball

Location: Hull (Yorkshire) - Noddle Hill Playing Fields
Type: UFO
Date / Time: 1992
Further Comments: At least four people watched a fast moving ball, around the size of a car, pass overhead. After the object moved away, the witnesses were left with an odd static feeling.

Small or Far Away?

Location: Idstone (Oxfordshire) - East of area
Type: UFO
Date / Time: February 1985
Further Comments: A pilot and another witness stopped their car to have a better look at an orange oval ufo. The pilot did not recognise the oval as any aircraft that she was aware off, and because of the lack of clouds and landmarks could not determine whether the object was large and very far away or smaller and closer.

Abduction Photographed

Location: Ilkley (Yorkshire) - Moors
Type: UFO
Date / Time: 1 December 1987
Further Comments: A former policeman photographed a strange creature running away from him on the moor - he gave chase, only to see a large silver disc take off and fly away at fantastic speed. The man soon realised that he had 'lost' almost two hours of the day; he was later hypnotically regressed and recalled being abducted. The area has a history of fairy sightings, which may be connected to this abduction story.

Orange Lights

Location: Inverness (Highland) - Skies over area
Type: UFO
Date / Time: 06 January 2008
Further Comments: A witness photographs six strange orange lights as they passed over the town at night.

Nocturnal Light

Location: Ipswich (Suffolk) - A12 towards Woodbridge, after Orwell Bridge
Type: UFO
Date / Time: 1990s
Further Comments: A family driving home one night watched as a bright light manoeuvred around the sky, before disappearing vertically into the clouds at a fantastic speed.

Spinning Lights

Location: Ipswich (Suffolk) - Orwell Bridge and the A12 towards Felixstowe, and Nacton Road
Type: UFO
Date / Time: 26 August 2006, around 04:00h
Further Comments: Two dull, spinning lights followed a teenager driving across the bridge for several miles. The lights always remained in front of the car, turning at the same time as the driver. Several other witnesses reported seeing similar lights around the Nacton Road area at roughly the same time.

Mushroom

Location: Isle of Arran (Ayrshire) - Skies over area
Type: UFO
Date / Time: 05 February 1985
Further Comments: High in the sky, this mushroom shaped object was said by the witness to be bright blue underneath. The ufo was also seen be the witness's wife and two daughters.

Figure in Silver Suit

Location: Isle of Sheppey (Kent) - Roadside of Sheppey Way
Type: UFO
Date / Time: 22 March 1979
Further Comments: A figure in a baggy silver suit climbed down a grassy verge by the roadside, watched by several motorists. It is thought this has a connection with a UFO seen a few hours earlier in the area.

Triangle

Location: Istead Rise (Kent) - Skies above village
Type: UFO
Date / Time: 24 November 2017
Further Comments: A large triangular craft was watched as it moved irregularly across the sky. It made no sound and would occasionally disappear and reappear.

Triangle

Location: Ixworth (Suffolk) - Road between Diss and Bury St Edmunds
Type: UFO
Date / Time: June 2000, dusk
Further Comments: Two witnesses in a car spotted a triangular craft, around the size of a house, hovering above a field. Soft lights were visible under the ufo. The witnesses also noticed other road vehicles were slowing down to look at the object.

HALO

Location: Kendal (Lancashire) - RAF Wharton, outside of the town
Type: UFO
Date / Time: 1990s
Further Comments: RAF Wharton was believed to be the home of the UK stealth aircraft project, HALO (High Altitude, Low Observable) being the project name. Some believe this to be the result of back engineering a downed UFO.
