Beast of Exmoor

Further Comments: Police, soldiers, big game hunters... all have staked out the moor at various times over the past thirty years in the hope of catching the big cat that has killed hundreds of sheep. None have succeeded.

Large Black Cat

Further Comments: Two sisters spotted what they described as a black panther crossing the top of the field by the hedge line. The creature then gracefully jumped through the hedge and disappeared.

Large Cats

Further Comments: The Big Cats of Suffolk website reported two large cats were reported in the village in 2003, one a large sandy coloured cat, the other black in colour.

First ABC?

Location: Farnham (Surrey) - Heathy Park Reservoir
Type: ABC
Date / Time: 16 July 1962, 07:45h
Further Comments: One of the first modern ABC sightings, Water Board worker Ernest Jellett staff spotted a large black cat. Over the following months, others witnessed a cheetah stalking the area - it was never caught.

Brown ABC

Further Comments: Part of a rash of sightings of ABCs in and around the Ipswich area during 1996. The creature was nicknamed 'Paws' by local media.

Cat the Size of an Alsatian

Further Comments: Seen twice by different people in the same area, this cat possessed a thick coat and left a strong smell of urine from one place where it had lain.

Slinky Cat

Location: Forres (Moray) - Fields near Dalvey House

Further Comments: While feeding their horses, two women spotted a long tailed black cat emerge from nearby woodland. Several of the horses fled across the field, and when the women approached the black feline, it ran off.

Glen Nevis, Fort William, Scotland.

Tailless Tiger

Location: Fort William (Highland) - Glen Nevis

Date / Time: 2001
Further Comments: Two witnesses running in the area observed a three metre long cat drinking from the river. One of the witnesses said the creature looked like a tailless tiger with white eyes but no pupils. The creature ran off into a nearby field when it spotted the runners. A few days later local papers reported the deaths of several local sheep in the same field where the creature had run.

Cow Sized Cat

Location: Gatwick (Essex) - Fields parallel to railway track near the airport
Type: ABC
Date / Time: March 2007
Further Comments: A woman travelling on the train spotted a black cat stalking a herd of cows in a field. She reported that the creature was about half the size of one of the nearby cows.

Leaping Cat

Location: Glemsford (Suffolk) - Cornfield in the area

Date / Time: 2006, Summer
Further Comments: A witness watched a large black cat as it leapt around in a cornfield, as if hunting. A week later the witness and a friend came across footprints almost the size of dinner plates in the same field.

Black Cat

Location: Glen Prosen (Angus) - Wooded hill in the area
Type: ABC
Date / Time: June, mid 2000s, 15:00h
Further Comments: Disturbed by a loud scream, two walkers looked around and spotted a black cat, around four feet long with a long thick tail and shoulders that were higher than its body. The cat looked at the walkers then disappeared into the bushes. Dogs could then be heard barking in the distance from several directions.

Yellow Eyed Creature

Further Comments: One witness reported throwing a stone at a large black shape, not realising it was a large cat until it opened its yellow eyes.

Road Crosser

Further Comments: A woman who stopped her car to answer a mobile phone spotted a large black cat crossing the road ahead. The cat stood three feet high and possessed a long black tail that drooped downwards. The sighting lasted for around five seconds.

Beast of Bluewater

Location: Greenhithe (Kent) - Bluewater area

Further Comments: A black leopard was reported in the area over a ten-year period. A witness in 2009 initially thought the creature was a large dog, before realising it was a black cat with an exceptionally long tail. When the cat began to head towards the witness, she left.

Black Leopard

Location: Greenock (Inverclyde) - Fairrie Street

Further Comments: A Greenock couple were surprised to find a large black cat in their front garden which quickly ran away. It is believed that there is at least one adult ABC and two cubs living in the area.

White Cat

Further Comments: This light coloured feline was the size of a pig and was said to have vanished when a local man tried to kick the creature.

The Catbeast

Further Comments: Dubbed 'catbeast' by local press, this alien big cat would appear to be more than one entity, as descriptions range from 'black panther' to 'tiger'.
