Drop and Run

Further Comments: An old folk tale states that by dropping a pin through the keyhole of the church and running around the building seven times, the Devil will be met.


Rabbit-sized Demon

Location: Willoughton - Country lane
Type: Fairy
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: This sober witness stated that, while cycling, a small bipedal creature with horns ran out in front of him, travelling just as fast as the bicycle. It disappeared as it hopped on a grass verge.


Hairy Jack

Location: Willoughton - Exact location not known
Type: Shuck
Date / Time: 1933
Further Comments: Known locally as Hairy Jack, the black dog which haunts this area is said to be covered in pigs' hair. A local man was said to have been pushed into a gatepost by an invisible dog after it placed its paws against his shoulders.


Clawed Stone

Location: Winceby - Boulder near area known as Slash Hollow
Type: Legend - Old Nick
Date / Time: Moved to the side of the field in 1970
Further Comments: The stone was finally buried by a farmer, who dug a hole next to the boulder and pushed it in. A failed previous attempt had resulted in the Devil appearing who scratched the stone with his claws. The stone was believed to have been placed on top of treasure, however when the stone was finally moved to one said, no treasure (or Devil) was found.


Tall Man in Black

Location: Winteringham - Bottom of Suttons Hill, also known as Hewde Lane, once known as Puddingpoke Lane
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: 1980s
Further Comments: This tall male figure appeared at the base of the hill during foggy days. The entity followed one young woman home; she ran into her house and observed the phantom watching her from the road outside before he vanished.


Pet Photograph

Location: Woodhall Spa - Former World War Two airfield
Type: Unknown Ghost Type
Date / Time: 1940s (photo) and 1980s (pilot)
Further Comments: A photograph of a group of airmen revealed a black dog standing at the end of the line up that was not spotted at the time by neither the photographer nor any of the pilots. It was later suggested it was 'Nigger', Guy Gibson's pet dog that had been run over a few months before. During the 1980s, a team of engineers working at night spotted a pilot in 'old flying gear' walking along a corridor. One of the team went to investigate, only to find that the pilot had disappeared.


Man in Tricorn Hat

Location: Woodhall Spa - Pine Woods
Type: Haunting Manifestation

Further Comments: A man wearing a cloak and a tricorn hat is said to drift through this wooded area. A phantom woman in white and the sound of wailing have also been reported.


Dambusters

Location: Woodhall Spa - The Petwood Hotel
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Post World War 2
Further Comments: The famous team enjoyed drinking here during active service, and it is said they can still be heard drinking here over half a century later.


Green Lady

Location: Wrangle - Rectory
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Circa early nineteenth century
Further Comments: This phantom green lady was said, on one occasion, to have left behind a memento in the form of a ring, although what happened to the jewellery is not known.
