Further Comments: The owners gave chase when they spotted a tall figure in a long grey coat enter the back of their house, but the figure vanished. During renovations on the property, one builder heard noises from an empty room above, while another builder who had worked alone left the building and spotted a figure looking down through a landing window.

Further Comments: While the legends say this lady was killed by (or on the orders of) Guy Fawkes for warning the authorities about the Gunpowder Plot, it is quite unlikely to be the case. However, even if not the Dame, a spirit does walk the building, and is held accountable for the mysterious cold spots.

Further Comments: A figure in a baggy silver suit climbed down a grassy verge by the roadside, watched by several motorists. It is thought this has a connection with a UFO seen a few hours earlier in the area.

Further Comments: This gallant looking figure rides up to the church, enters the building and briefly prays at the altar before vanishing again until another year goes by.

Further Comments: Appearing to several men at different times, this spirit would appear once the witness had entered the shower. Two of the men ran from the room naked, such was their horror.

Further Comments: Reports say that it has rained money in this graveyard several times, but do not become too enthusiastic - the coinage is always pre-decimal.

Further Comments: The Popham family featured in newspaper stories when poltergeist activity broke out in their home following structural alterations they had made. Lights would turn on and off, the television changed channels, and a kitchen cupboard opened and spilled the Christmas drink supply. The entity was also blamed for holding the bathroom door shut, preventing Mrs Popham from leaving. Another nearby family said their home also experienced poltergeist activity.

Further Comments: The resident of one of the properties built on a former RAF airfield has said they have seen a nurse in an old fashioned uniform, an airman's head and a shadowy figure moving across their hallway.

Further Comments: A highwayman hanged on gallows that once stood outside this building is still said to make his presence known in the area.

Further Comments: On still, moonless nights, a line of monks have been observed in these ruins. Plainchant has also been heard and the smell of incense detected by tourists at the site.

Further Comments: This playful spirit succeeded in transporting a horse into a hayloft through a gap so small that a wall had to be knocked down to remove the creature! Large barrels were also transported around the site, unhindered by guards and their dogs.

Further Comments: Witnesses report seeing this vehicle coming towards them along narrow parts of the road; they pull in to give way, only to see the bus vanish. An earlier version of the story says the bus (or coach) is seen parked at the side of the road but vanishes when witnesses pass.

Further Comments: Said to have been killed by Arthur Darrell (a previous owner of the castle), this agent of the Government now climbs out of the castle moat, dripping wet, and stalks the castle looking for revenge. Arthur Darrell's body was buried near the castle, and there are stories that say he turned up to his own funeral, his ghost saying, 'That isn't me!' before vanishing.

Further Comments: The local council website says during daylight hours a retired policeman encountered an apparition on the site of the priory. The entity changed into four different figures before disappearing.

Further Comments: Guests at this property reported an unwelcome feeling and the sensation of not being alone. They later found out a previous cleaner had quit because they were convinced the site was haunted.
