Young Man

Further Comments: A woman driving along the road watched in disbelieve as a semi-transparent man dressed in black stepped out in front of her car. She hit the figure and stopped immediately, but was unable to find the man, and her car remained undamaged.

Officer

Location: Thanet - Former Ambulance Station, now Westwood Cross

Further Comments: A cold wind felt in the former ambulance station, even in the height of summer, was attributed to a phantom officer. Some believe that even though the building has been replaced by a shopping centre, the ghost remains.

Gardener Watching the Goldfish

Further Comments: This dedicated gardener has been watched several times standing on a stone bridge, watching the fish in the pool.

Tall Man

Location: Thurnham - Thurnham Castle
Type: Unknown Ghost Type

Further Comments: A small group of people standing around a fire watched a seven foot tall man dressed in a green and blue tunic run past, waving his arms wildly. Though only visible for a couple of seconds, one of the witnesses reported that while the figure had no face, he did possess smartly cut short hair.

Woman in Black Dress

Location: Timberden Bottom - Private house, exact location unknown

Further Comments: While the ghostly figure of the woman has been seen several times, a phantom clown has appeared twice, hanging in the air where, if the legends are to be believed, he hanged himself in the 1600's.

Orange Lights

Location: Tonbridge - Barden Lake

Further Comments: A group of ten orange lights flying in a straight line were spotted by fishermen, a few forming triangular shapes. Changing position slightly, the witnesses could see around twenty more lights flying low behind the tree line, all moving in the same direction.

Norman Soldiers

Location: Tonbridge - King's Road / Goldsmid Road

Further Comments: Local legend said that these two Norman troops became lost while en route from the Battle of Hastings to London. The pair were caught by Saxon soldiers (and it did not end well).

Woman

Location: Tonbridge - Lodge Oak Lane, outside Cardinal's Error public house

Further Comments: A phantom woman would wander along the lane outside the pub, although it may be many years since she last appeared.

Lady with Large Hat

Location: Tonbridge - The Cardinal's Error public house, Lodge Oak Lane

Further Comments: Seen sitting at the base of a bed by two different ladies, the true history of this ghost is unknown.

Huge Dog

Location: Trottiscliffe - Pilgrim's Way

Further Comments: A very large black hound is said to stalk the village, and may have attacked two locals in 1745, killing one and severely injuring the other.

Figures in Green

Location: Trottiscliffe - Road near Culdrum Long Barrow

Further Comments: A pair of witnesses reported seeing a man and woman dressed in green ornate clothing approaching them down this road. The figures in green disappeared on the bend of the road just before both parties should have met.

Lady in Red

Location: Upper Halling - Black Boy public house

Further Comments: While the normal pub poltergeist activities also apply here (visitors have been poked and electrical appliances have been unplugged), there have also been sightings of a woman in red drifting silently near the staircase and of a child in the upper part of the building.

Little Drummer Boy

Location: Upper Halling - Wooded area in the village

Further Comments: Local children have reported hearing drumming in an area which is believed to be haunted by a young drummer who died there.

Shouting

Location: West Malling - Old police station (former Victorian building)
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Circa 2004
Further Comments: When this large Victorian building was in the process of being decommissioned, a single police officer would be based there during the night shift. One officer working late heard a male voice shouting and furniture being moved and thrown around upstairs. The officer followed the sounds, and upon reaching a room where the noise seemed to be coming from, flung the door open. The shouting suddenly ceased, and the room found completely devoid of life. Mentioning the event a few days later to a colleague, the officer was told he was not the first to have an experience at the site.

Kitted Out Airman

Location: West Malling - Old World War 2 Airfield

Further Comments: The haunt of a Second World War airman, this figure may also be to blame for throwing bricks at passing vehicles.

Two Thirds of a Man

Location: West Malling - Police House, West Street
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: June or July 2006
Further Comments: A police officer spotted the bottom two thirds of a figure on the staircase of this building. The figure wore soft leather boots, a long black cape and a silver doublet with a sword hanging from it. The figure disappeared up the stairs. The officer gave chase, but no one could be found - the only way out was back past the officer.

Jack Diamond

Location: West Peckham - Diamond's Cottage

Further Comments: Jack Diamond was a highwayman - his ghost, and maybe those of others, have been seen here on the unluckiest dates in the calendar.

Winston

Further Comments: Seen and spoken to by his son Randolph, Sir Winston Churchill's ghost sat in a leather armchair in the studio in the garden.

Slamming Doors

Location: Westerham - Rooks Cottage

Further Comments: This spirit was often heard walking down the corridor, and opening and closing doors. Pets often watched an invisible presence walk through the living room.

Dog

Location: Westerham - Rystead House (aka Manor House)

Date / Time: Circa 1950s
Further Comments: One former owner of the property claimed to have seen a phantom dog run up the staircase and disappear into a room that was known as the 'ghost room'. The room had the reputation of being haunted by a resident who took his own life after some romantic related rejection.

Footsteps

Location: Whitstable - Deco 5 wine bar, Oxford Street

Further Comments: Builders working on the building heard footsteps crossing an upper story floor which had just been removed. Doors have also been heard to bang shut unaided by human hand, and an electrician left the site after his lamp was thrown through the air.

Satan Takes a Town

Further Comments: Whitstable was founded after the Devil tried to steal the buildings of Canterbury - he was caught, and dropped the stolen houses eight miles away, where they stayed.

Organ Music

Location: Whitstable - George Fitt Social Club, Tankerton

Date / Time: 1954
Further Comments: Members of the George Fitt Social Club heard organ music fill the room and initially thought it to have come from the nearby former cinema, until they investigated and found the site empty.

Little Creature with Glowing Eyes

Location: Wichling - Wooded area and the church

Further Comments: A group of four people in the church yard at night reported seeing a small entity with glowing red eyes run by them. They quickly left after hearing a strange whistling and watching a fast moving cloud cover the area. There are other stories which involve small figures seen standing by the edge of the woods.

Cross Dressing Duellist

Further Comments: After having his wife seduced by an Irishman, an officer killed the offending person in question. Several years later, the wife discovered the body, and realised the Irishman was in fact another woman. The spirit of a woman now walks the area, though none can say for sure which woman it is...
