One witness challenged the ghost, and after being told the reason for the return, ensured the girl was given the shawl. Before vanishing forever, the ghost performed one last act - it carried the girl to the woman's grave (in Ludgvan), where the girl's shoe fell off. No one wanted to risk upsetting the ghost for a second time, so left the shoe on the woman's grave.
