Further Comments: This phantom woman had auburn hair and was dressed in blue. The witness reported the face was quite beautiful, and the entity smiled before looking sad. The figure was illuminated, and when the witness turned briefly away, the woman in blue vanished.

Further Comments: Once a monastery, the building is now haunted by a monk who hanged himself on the site after he was told he had to leave.

Further Comments: The phantom hound found here would be completely silent, though the dog's panting gives away its location. The Roman road is also haunted by a woman in black, said to move so quickly that she is impossible to catch.

Further Comments: It was said that horse and carriage could sometimes be heard outside this coach house, even though they could never be seen.

Further Comments: Returning home one night, a driver encountered a man wearing Cavalier-style clothing. The figure was accompanied by a large black dog. The driver sped away, rather than investigate further.

Headless Horses

Further Comments: Rumoured to be a battleground between Britons and Romans, the sounds of battle, accompanied by the site of headless horses, have been reported. The battle was said to be so intense, the valley filled with blood.

Further Comments: A cottage which once stood here was said to be home to a witch. She was said to have been seen peering from the window after she had died.

Further Comments: Horses were said to be startled at the location where a suicide was buried. The phantom was said to be heard on a nightly basis; on the hour of his death, ghostly swinging could be heard.

Headless Man

Further Comments: This headless ghost disappeared soon after a decapitated skeleton was discovered in the wall of the farmhouse and laid to rest.

Further Comments: This barrow is a named contender for the following tale. A small team of treasure hunters were searching for a golden table, fabled to have been buried in the area. One man found the top of the object, but as he called out to his friends, it sank beneath the ground and could not e rediscovered.

Shadows at the Bar

Further Comments: Staff reported seeing shadowy people at the bar, but as they moved towards the area, the figures would vanish. A visiting clairvoyant said that she could see a man in a powered wig writing poetry using a quill.

Solitary Figure

Further Comments: A shadowy figure has been seen standing by a yew tree in this churchyard. It is unclear whether the ghost is that of a man who hanged himself from the tree or a phantom woman. Either way, a local myth says the best way to encounter the phantom is to run around the tree thirteen times anti-clockwise.
