Hand of Glory

Further Comments: A hand of glory discovered within the attic was removed. For one hundred years after, the building was haunted by ghostly footsteps.

Pauline Kelly

Further Comments: Local stories tell of three phantoms said to haunt this area - a mad nun, a suicide, and a white woman. Although not much is known about the first two, the white woman is said to be Pauline Kelly, who vanished in the mid nineteenth century along with her daughter. Her shade is supposed to appear if 'white lady, white lady, I'm the one who killed your baby' is spoken.

Further Comments: A former cinema, this building is home to an entity that laughs, smashes glasses, and sings in the style of a club singer.

Puma
Location: Wolverhampton - Disused railway line

Further Comments: This large brown cat was blamed for attacking a dog being walked by a child. It was seen a number of times walking along disused rail tracks in and around the Wolverhampton area.

Stone Fall

Date / Time: June 1860 & May 1869
Further Comments: 'Many' small dark pebbles rained down on the city during a storm - they had to be shovelled away. The same event happened almost a decade later.

Percy Purdey

Date / Time: Mid to late twentieth century?
Further Comments: A former theatre manager and creature of habit; for years after his death Purdey could be heard mixing himself a drink in the bar after the start of every performance.

The Peel Street Monster
Location: Wolverhampton - Peel Street and Brickkiln Street
Type: Cryptozoology
Date / Time: Winter, 1933 - 1934
Further Comments: After several attacks on children by an unknown creature, one seventeen year old boy managed to kill the 'monster'. No one could identify the creature, larger than a rat with bulging eyes, although another unknown entity was found dead within 24 hours and was named as a coatimundi, a mammal from the raccoon family.

Blue Woman
Location: Wolverhampton - St John's Vaults public house

Further Comments: Thought to be the ghost of a woman who jumped to her death from the upper part of the building, this figure wearing a blue dress was seen drifting around the property. Ghostly footsteps in the building have also been attributed to her.

White Lady

Further Comments: Seen walking around the cellar, this phantom also enjoyed turning the beer pump taps off, sometimes up to twenty times a month. The entity disappeared after structural alterations were made to the building.

Whispering
Location: Wolverhampton - White Ladies Priory

Further Comments: A small group of people who visited the site reported hearing faint whisperings and bangs, although only the female members of the group could perceive them. One legend says that Queen Guinevere retired to the priory after the death of King Arthur.

Screaming Horses
Location: Wythall - Black Greve Farm
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: 24 December (reoccurring)
Further Comments: Locals say that the horses belonged to a Roman chariot; the driver lost control in the ice and snow, and the entire team fell into a deep ditch and died.
