Further Comments: The Ministry of Defence confirmed that Suffolk Police had handed over a report of four black spheres which one person had seen moving across the sky in formation.

Robert Brommer
Location: Butley - Butley Priory - gatehouse

Date / Time: 1509 (?) onwards
Further Comments: Robert Brommer (or Browner) committed suicide in Ipswich after falling heavily in debt to the king. After a couple of burials and removals, his remains were finally laid to rest at a crossroads along the nearby Hausen Street. His spirit took exception to this, and has since been reported in the gatehouse.

Figure on Stairs

Date / Time: Twentieth century
Further Comments: This building is home to a former owner who shot his wife (she feigned death, avoiding a second and more fatal shot) before turning the gun on himself while standing at the top of the stairs. It is at this spot that he is seen standing. The nearby pig farm is also reportedly haunted by a figure dressed in green, wearing a mask - he was a worker who was killed in farm machinery.

Man in Long Coat
Location: Buxhall - Rattlesden Road area

Date / Time: February, frosty nights or snow on the ground
Further Comments: The silhouette of a man in a long coat has been spotted walking around this road, carrying a lantern at waist height. The same witness reports his dog behaves strangely when taken past the woods close to Cockerells Hall Drive.

Cold Spots and Damp Patches

Further Comments: Considered by locals to be an unlucky house, occupants have reported incredibly cold spots located in the building which are unaffected by any amount of heating. Damp patches have also appeared on the ceilings of the rooms, disappearing with incredible speed.

Further Comments: A witness staying nearby heard children singing 'Ring a Ring of Roses' at half past midnight, though could not find anyone when she investigated further.

Further Comments: Over the period of a week, the residents of the neighbourhood could hear a female voice calling out 'John! John!' The voice was slowly heard less, until it was heard no more.

Richard Howarth

Further Comments: After the death of Reverend Richard Howarth, the vicar was said to have been heard walking around his former abode, appearing on one occasion in 1890.

Toppling Tower

Further Comments: St. Andrew's church tower was cursed by a local witch. First it burned down, and when rebuild was struck by lightning and burned down again. To prevent this from happening a third time, a large square tower was built, only to be hit by a bomb during World War 2.

Wealthy Farmer

Further Comments: The ghost of a farmer whose wealth was never discovered is said to still be around the area, waiting for a person willing to follow him to the hidden money.

Fog Bank with Flag

Further Comments: What could be seen as an early UFO sighting, a man walking along the beach watched a localised 'fog bank' sitting on the sand, with a huge flagpole sticking out. After ten minutes, the object rose and faded from view.

Further Comments: The ghost, a nun, was once said to haunt a house that stood on the cliff edge, which has now gone. Her form is now seen along the cliffs.

Dog Walker

Further Comments: Four friends camping on the beach decided to walk towards Corton in the early hours of the morning. Sitting down for a rest, two of the group spotted a man with a dog had suddenly appeared a short distance away. Man and dog stood completely motionless, looking out to sea. The two witnesses turned to their friends and tried to point out the man and dog, but they had vanished.

Malekin
Location: Dagworth - The house of Sir Osberni de Bradewelle

Further Comments: Malekin would converse with the family of Sir Osberni de Bradewelle, sharing people's secrets and humouring householders in the voice of a one year old child. The entity would speak in both English and Latin, and while Malekin could be heard and felt, he only appeared once; manifesting as a child dressed in a white tunic to a woman who agreed not to try and touch him. Malekin claimed that he had been born in Lavenham, removed from a field after being left there by his mother, and he had a hat which made him invisible.

Treasure Protector

Further Comments: Little is known about this ghost, other than he is said to protect a hoard of treasure, and twelve clergymen failed to exorcise him. Maybe the clergymen were more successful than they believed - the legend dates back to at least 1893, but in April 2008 a hoard of golden coins were discovered in farm land in the village.

Monk

Further Comments: Two separate witnesses were said to have seen a monk-like figure on different occasions in a garden close to the church. It is speculated that the phantom is somehow connected to Leiston Abbey.

Further Comments: A large horse shoe which was once nailed to the ceiling of this building was said to contain a spirit, exorcised by a large team of clergymen.

Water Man

Further Comments: The ghost of a male haunted the area surrounding the pond. A clergyman placed a rushlight (a type of candle made from the rush plant) into the water and declared the phantom could not return until the light had burnt out.
