Giant's Gold

Location: Stokesay - Stokesay Castle
Type: Legend
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: Two giants stored their gold in a large locked chest under the castle. One giant managed to drop the key in the castle moat, where it is said to remain to this day. The chest has to be approached with the key in hand, to do so otherwise invites an attack from a large raven.

Yellow Eyed Cat

Location: Telford - Silkin Way
Type: ABC
Date / Time: Early 2011
Further Comments: After hearing rustling in nearby bushes, a walker approached closer only to hear loud cat-like screeching. As they backed away, a large black cat with yellow eyes was spotted.

Black Puma

Location: Telford - Areas including Blockleys Brickmaker's and Donnington Wood
Type: ABC
Date / Time: September 1999 (Blockleys), 1992 (Donnington Wood)
Further Comments: Clear CCTV footage taken at Blockleys showed a large (around two meters in length) black cat stalking the neighbourhood. The RSPCA stated the creature was indeed a puma. Another witness spotted the creature in woodland at the bottom of their garden.

Screams

Location: Telford - Lilleshall Abbey
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Cries unknown, monk seen in May 2004
Further Comments: The tortured cries of persons unknown can often be heard coming from under this building, sometimes drowned out by the singing of hymns. The photographer Lawson Clout spotted a ghostly monk here in 2004, though the figure vanished before he had a chance to take any images. The apparition was described as being dressed in a black robe, and was holding a book. (Image 2006 Lawson Clout)

Box Pusher

Location: Telford - Wellington Indoor Market
Type: Poltergeist
Date / Time: May 2013
Further Comments: CCTV footage caught a pile of boxes falling unaided, some declaring that the supernatural was at work (and others declaring they were just poorly stacked).

Little Girl

Location: Wem - Town Hall
Type: Other
Date / Time: 1995
Further Comments: Photographed by Tony O'Rahilly during the fire that engulfed the town hall, the girl can be seen in the flames - an impossible position for a living person. Months after the blaze, builders continued to report a ghostly figure on the site. However, an old postcard came to light in 2010 which shows a young girl identical to the ghost in the photo, proving that the original photograph was a composite image (ie hoax).

Crockery goes Crash

Location: Wem - The Woods farm
Type: Poltergeist
Date / Time: 1883
Further Comments: Plates would throw themselves onto the floor, loaves of bread 'attacked' people, and, most disturbingly, the baby's cradle caught fire, with the infant in it.

Trapped Bandits

Location: Wenlock Edge - Ippikin's Rock
Type: Legend
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: A rockslide here trapped a band of brigands and their loot in a cave. If you stand on the rocks holding them and say 'Ippikin, Ippikin, keep away with your long chin', the leader of the gang appears and tries to kill you.

Voice of a Girl

Location: Whitchurch - Old Eagles
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: 17 June 2005
Further Comments: While the building was being investigated by a paranormal group, the voice of a young girl in the main cellar was recorded on video via CCTV.

Pianist

Location: Whitchurch - Civic Centre
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Twentieth century
Further Comments: The phantom notes of a piano were heard for several nights, drifting from the unmanned civic centre. An investigation failed to find the cause of the noise.

Small Children

Location: Whittington - Whittington Castle
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: Seen peaking out from the gatehouse windows, these children are never found when looked for.
