Further Comments: A forty-six centimetre disc covered with strange hieroglyphics was found by three men who were investigating the sighting of a ufo which glowed eerily in the night sky.

Further Comments: A captain, first officer and flight engineer of an aircraft flying from Belfast to the Isle of Man reported a bright white spherical object that became an orange beam.

Further Comments: This 'cloud' which shot beams of light, heating up the cold winter night, hovered over the town before heading off towards Ireland.

Further Comments: A fighter pilot, while out on routine patrol, reported a near miss with a silver domed disc - the UFO had been travelling towards him at fantastic speed, and had veered off at the last possible second.

Radiant Ship

Further Comments: A brightly coloured ship passed overhead, on an otherwise clear night.

Landing UFO
Location: St Helens (Lancashire) - Field in Rainhill area
Type: UFO
Date / Time: January 1978
Further Comments: Robert Bennett told the St Helens Star newspaper how he had worked with police and radio enthusiasts in chasing a strange craft across the St Helens sky. The pursuit ended after three police officers watched the ufo take off after landing in a field.

Flashing Lights
Location: Stanton (Leicestershire) - Exact area not known

Date / Time: Early 2000s
Further Comments: A low flying circular object was spotted by two friends as it moved across the sky towards them. As it approached they noticed two small flashing lights on the side of the craft that grew in intensity until the glare became blinding. The witnesses shielded their eyes to avoid the light; as they did so the object made a strange sound and disappeared - no trace could be seen in the sky.

Further Comments: Driving back from work in the early hours of the morning, this witness spotted a halo shaped object hovering and darting around the sky before vanishing.

Flying Mushroom

Further Comments: A woman, her husband and his mother watched glowing orange, mushroom shaped object for an hour as it hovered overhead, before moving away quite quickly towards the Stoke area.

Large Saucer

Further Comments: With lights on either side and a flashing one on top, this large saucer shaped object was reported moving slowly across the sky.

Five Fliers
Location: Stratford upon Avon (Warwickshire) - Skies over the town centre

Date / Time: 21 July 2007
Further Comments: Over 100 people watched five objects moving over the town centre for a period of around thirty minutes. One witness said three of the lights formed a triangle, another hovered to one side, while the fifth light darted around. Another witness claimed they looked like little balls of flame.

Blond Haired Alien

Further Comments: Rosalind Reynolds was abducted from her car by a tall alien with messy blond hair accompanied by several classic greys. She claims that after the event she developed a psychic talent for foreseeing disasters.

Hovering Craft

Further Comments: Seen hovering silently in the sky, this UFO had white, red and green lights and remained visible for around 90 minutes.

Sky Ship
Location: Swanscombe (Kent) - Church and nearby Blue Anchor public house
Type: UFO
Date / Time: 1211
Further Comments: A group here for Sunday service watched a strange ship drop anchor from the heavens, which became entangled around a gravestone. One of the crew jumped overboard and headed towards the anchor, moving as if swimming. Witnesses grabbed the stranger as he reached the ground; he struggled briefly before drowning, even though on dry land. The remaining crew in the ship severed the rope of the anchor and sailed away; the strange artefact was melted down and used to make the hinges on the local church doors.

Sky Ship
Location: Tailltenn (now known as Teltown) (County Meath) - Exact area not known

Date / Time: Between AD 944 and 956
Further Comments: Conghalach Cnoghbha, High King of Ireland, and his men were said to have spotted a sailing ship in the sky here. A crew member of this ship threw a spear at a salmon, also in the sky, which missed and landed close to Conghalach. The crew member leapt from the ship and, swimming in the sky, came down to the ground to retrieve the spear. One of the King's men grabbed the swimmer, who screamed out 'I'm drowning!'. Conghalach told his man to release the crew member, who 'swam' back to the ship which then disappeared into the clouds.

Large Eyed Aliens
Location: Tarbrax (Lanarkshire) - A70 between Tarbrax and Balerno

Date / Time: 17 August 1992
Further Comments: Ambulance mechanic Gary Wood and his friend Andrew encountered a black shiny UFO along the A70 - it had no lights and was silent. After realising that they had lost one and a half hours, they underwent hypnosis where they discovered they had been abducted by frail grey aliens with large eyes.

Flash

Further Comments: A disc-like craft was observed by one witness. It had two lights which looked like windows, and a small red light towards the rear. The craft vanished in a flash of white light.

Abducted Policeman
Location: Todmorden (Yorkshire) - Burnley Road

Further Comments: Alan Godfrey, a policeman on the Yorkshire force, reported seeing a large UFO along the road, and experiencing missing time. He was later hypnotised and 'discovered' that he had been taken inside the alien craft and subjected to experiments.

Flying Lights

Further Comments: The skies between Todmorden and Bacup have been home to frequent reports of unidentified lights which have alarmed both people and animals alike.

Orange Lights

Further Comments: A group of ten orange lights flying in a straight line were spotted by fishermen, a few forming triangular shapes. Changing position slightly, the witnesses could see around twenty more lights flying low behind the tree line, all moving in the same direction.

Flying Cigar

Further Comments: Dozens of people contacted the local media with reports of a strange flying cigar which passed over the town. One witness managed to take a reasonably clear photograph of the UFO with his mobile phone.

Sixty Red Lights

Further Comments: Sixty or more red lights were seen by several people over the skies of Uckfield. The lights moved in close formation and eventually moved away.

Moped
Location: Upton Scudamore (Wiltshire) - Farm track, opposite a lane leading down to Upton Scudamore

Date / Time: 09 October 1976
Further Comments: On a dense, foggy night, author Andrew Collins (pictured) and a team of four other paranormal researchers encountered a small light that moved a few feet off the ground, rather like the headlamp of a moped. The light vanished into a area blocked by low hedgerow, and when they examined the ground the following morning, there was no evidence of tread prints. (Photograph supplied by Andrew Collins)
