Further Comments: This little creature was like a small man or woman, though it had a face of a seal with long hair. It travelled on the water in a large pie dish. Another creature here, or possibly another form of the same one, had large tusks and swam in the water; it would only leave to feed.

Further Comments: While constructing a new runway during the 1950s, the chief engineer was warned that the work would result in the destruction of a fairy fort - the location of the runway was changed, leaving the fort undisturbed.

Further Comments: The island is renown for its mischievous fairies, who take objects or mysteriously place other objects in strange places.

Further Comments: This barrow was the home to pixies, who were said to have caused several accidents during the construction of the power station.

Further Comments: Being a dab hand with corn thrashing, this fairy fellow was most welcome at the house, but left when accidentally insulted by the owner.

Further Comments: The Flag of the MacLeod's was given to them by a fairy that changed herself into a mortal and married into the family - it can only be used three times, but each time it is waved, it grants the MacLeods victory over a foe. Used twice before (1490 & 1580), the flag remained true to the fairy's words. The Fairy Bridge near the castle is considered inherently evil, and upsets animals.

Further Comments: The south facing side of the hill are said to be where the vast majority of the island's fairies and pixies live. It is also said that a giant sleeps under the hill, cursed by Merlin.

Further Comments: Traditionally the homes of fairies, this barrow is one of many in the area and the little people have been seen dancing around it.

Further Comments: Legend names this site as an entrance to fairyland, with the little people being seen milling around the doorway. If one left a bowl of porridge by the doorway with unfinished knitting overnight, by the following day the bowl would be empty and the knitting complete.

Further Comments: The little people ring the church bells after covering them with dew, ensuring the soft ringing is seldom heard by mortals.

Further Comments: Whilst walking one night, a gentleman watched a dozen doll-like figures dancing around in a ring. He reported them as being more like little ghosts than solid creatures, making no sound and wearing sparkling dresses, standing no more than three foot high. Fairies were once quite common (as common as fairy sightings are) in the meadows along this road.
