Army on Manoeuvres

Location: Stockton on the Forest (Yorkshire) - Skies above area
Type: Environmental Manifestation
Date / Time: 13 January 1792
Further Comments: Several people reported seeing a forest in the sky, with soldiers in black uniforms moving around in formation. More soldiers wore white clothing, but appeared to be allied to the other troops, rather than in conflict.

Thatched Cottage

Location: Swindon (Wiltshire) - Ermine Street
Type: Environmental Manifestation
Date / Time: 1930s
Further Comments: A female cyclist caught in a storm took cover in a thatched cottage along this road, warming herself by an open fire with an old grey haired man for company. She later discovered that the cottage had been overgrown and dilapidated since the previous century.

Gothic House

Location: Tendring (Essex) - Exact area unknown
Type: Environmental Manifestation
Date / Time: Winter 1974, around 19:00h
Further Comments: Two cyclists passing through the village on a winter's evening spotted a large gothic-style manor house where they knew a bungalow should have been. Speaking later to a local, they were told no house had ever stood on the site.

House with Glowing Windows

Location: Thirlmere (Cumbria) - Armboth Hall, and Thirlmere (reservoir)
Type: Environmental Manifestation
Date / Time: 31 October (reoccurring), Wedding party occurs. Lights seen May 2013
Further Comments: After a murder of a newlywed bride, this house was left to fall into ruin. Some people reported that a glowing candle could be seen moving past various windows, while others claimed a ghostly wedding party occurred. The Hall is now lost below the waters of the flooded valley of Thirlmere, which is home to a phantom dog which swims through the water. In 2013 a witness camping in the area became unnerved after witnessing two silently moving lights along the road.

Changed Landscape

Location: Torbay (Devon) - Off Coast of Churston Ferrers
Type: Environmental Manifestation
Date / Time: 1938
Further Comments: What could have been a mirage, someone reported that the landscape along the coast had totally changed. The witness almost fell over the edge of the cliff, mistaking the phantom landscape as real.

Shuck and Friends

Location: Tuamgraney (County Clare) - Wooded area
Type: Environmental Manifestation
Date / Time: 31 October (reoccurring)
Further Comments: This wooded hollow is particularly haunted around Halloween, when it is said to change into dense woodland with demonic creatures, including a red eyed dogs and rams.

Execution

Location: W2 (Greater London) - St George's Field, area near Marble Arch
Type: Environmental Manifestation
Date / Time: 1979
Further Comments: A witness living near here reported looking from a window to see dozens of people standing around the scene of an eighteenth century execution. The Bayswater Road area is also said to be haunted by strange shadowy figures which quickly disappear once seen.

Battle

Location: Wareham (Dorset) - Hills around Creech Grange
Type: Environmental Manifestation
Date / Time: December 1678
Further Comments: Several thousand men were said to have been seen in the area, the sound of battle filling the air. The event is said to have been witnessed by around one hundred people.

Fire

Location: Warminster (Wiltshire) - Cley Hill
Type: Environmental Manifestation
Date / Time: Varies: 31 October & 02 November (reoccurring)
Further Comments: Several witnesses have reported seeing large burning fires on the hills, with figures dancing around them, talking and singing loudly in an unrecognised language. When investigated, there is never any evidence of the fire or figures. A legend says the hill was created by the Devil, who threw down a pile of dirt on the spot after being led to believe that it would take him several years to reach Devizes.

Monks in a field

Location: Winchcombe (Gloucestershire) - Belas Knap, a long barrow situated above the town
Type: Environmental Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: One visitor to the site stated she looked across the fields and watched a group of monks approaching the barrow. She left for a few minutes, and on her return realised that the field now looked different; shorter grass, fewer trees, and the figures had vanished. The area around the barrow is locally acknowledged to be 'strange'. The road running by Belas Knap is said to be haunted by a blue figure which unnerves drivers as it steps on into their paths.
