Large Black Cat
Location: Sudbury (Suffolk) - Henny Road

Further Comments: While driving home this witness watched a large black cat, 'as large as a Boxer dog', run from out of a hedge into the car headlights. The creature continued to run along the road for a short distance before vanishing into another hedge.

Further Comments: Clear CCTV footage showed a large (around two meters in length) black cat stalking the neighbourhood. The RSPCA stated the creature was indeed a puma.

Further Comments: After hearing rustling in nearby bushes, a walker approached closer only to hear loud cat-like screeching. As they backed away, a large black cat with yellow eyes was spotted.

Further Comments: A large cat with eyes that glowed red was reported in the forest.

Further Comments: A witness returning home by car spotted a large cat just a few metres away from a deer. He stated that he saw the perfect side profile of the creature just before it disappeared into the hedge: a long sleek body with a long tail drooping to the ground and then hooking upwards.

Further Comments: Licensee of the Masons Arms Lynne Goldfield reported observing a brown cat with high hind legs as she walked her dog along this road.

Further Comments: Dozens of witnesses reported seeing a large cat that resembled a lioness, though no hard evidence was ever produced.

Further Comments: Possibly the same creature seen in Great Wigborough, the ABC observed here was thought to be a lion.

Cat Attack

Further Comments: Joshua Hopkins, aged 11, was attacked by a strange cat 150 centimetres in length. The claw marks that were left on his cheek had to be treated in hospital.

Cat Crossing Road

Further Comments: While driving through the forest, this woman saw a large unidentified cat cross the road ahead of her. She reported it was between 4.5 feet - 5.5 feet in length, including the tail. When it was mentioned to a forest warden later in the day, he said it was not an uncommon report in that particular area.

Further Comments: A mother and daughter watched a large white cat close to woodland over a period of fifteen to twenty minutes. They compared the size of the cat to that of a deer.

Further Comments: An early ABC report from the UK, this creature was said to have a head of a lion, though the body resembled a dog. Deaths were reported in the local livestock population.

Panther Size Cat
Location: Warter (Yorkshire) - Woods near Warter Priory

Further Comments: While walking their dog, this witness watched a large black cat leap across the path twenty yards (18 metres) ahead of them. The dog, which was running around freely, immediately ran back to the owner, and both walked back the way they had came.

Further Comments: Andrew Hollings, out walking his dog in the evening, encountered a cat 'the size of a Labrador or Alsatian with a long tail'. The creature slowly emerged form woodland.

Further Comments: Named the 'Beast of Brookmans Park' by the local press, this panther was spotted by several people during 2005.

Large Black Cat
Location: Wendover (Buckinghamshire) - Main Exit to Woods
Date / Time: September 2006
Further Comments: A driver reported passing along this road and slowing down for what they assumed was a large black dog. As they approached, they realised the creature was in fact a very large black cat.

Chiltern Puma
Location: Wendover (Buckinghamshire) - RAF Halton housing estate
Date / Time: May 1983, and 2005
Further Comments: In May 1983, four women encountered the 'Chiltern Puma' while walking through the estate - the creature past within three metres of the group. The cat was seen a half dozen times during that year, in over a three week period, all within a thirteen mile radius. In 2005 another witness reported seeing a large black creature close to the old RAF hospital site.

Further Comments: A black panther-like cat has been observed a dozen times over a seven year period, on one occasion the cat was accompanied by a cub.

Further Comments: This typical large black cat seen at some distance.

Flecked cat
Location: Winchcombe (Gloucestershire) - Area around Mount View Drive

Further Comments: Several witnesses reported seeing a large cat in the area of this new housing estate. One woman said it was the size of a Labrador with a flecked brown coloured coat. Fur from the creature had been recovered, but at the time of writing, DNA analysis has not been carried out on the evidence.

Further Comments: The police were called after three people watched a large black cat padding around a field at a distance of around fifteen metres.

Large Black Cat

Further Comments: The so-called Beast of Essex was spotted by a police officer along the High Street - the large black cat fled down the side of the police station. A search for the creature was launched, but nothing could be found.

Light Brown Cat
Location: Wokingham (Berkshire) - Forest Road and surrounding area
Date / Time: June 2004
Further Comments: At least eight people in the space of a year have reported a large cat in the area. It was said by one person to have ears similar to that of a fox, though light brown in colour with a long straight tail. Another man in the area of Woodcray Manor Golf Club stated that he saw a cat with a pair of large green eyes, fifteen centimetres apart, staring at him.

Further Comments: This large brown cat was blamed for attacking a dog being walked by a child. It was seen a number of times walking along disused rail tracks in and around the Wolverhampton area.
