Further Comments: A collie named Basil was attacked by a large creature in the wood; the vet who stitched up the ten centimetre tear on the neck said it looked like it was caused by a cat.

Further Comments: Described as being the size of a collie dog, light in colour with large ears and a huge mouth, this large cat was spotted by more than twenty people over the period of a few weeks.

Further Comments: Anglers fishing in this area reported a cat the size of a cocker spaniel which often appeared at day and night.

White Hyena
Location: Margam (West Glamorgan) - Lakeside Golf Range
Date / Time: December 2005
Further Comments: After receiving reports of a large cat, police officers called to the golf range observed a strange creature, a third bigger than an Alsatian and white in colour. One witness said the front legs were bigger than the hind legs and the creature had a long tail which reached the ground.

Further Comments: Over thirty sightings of a large cat were made in Fife over a twelve month period. Several animal carcasses were found torn to pieces and a ten centimetre long cat footprint was found in soft earth.

Further Comments: Cyclist Gavin Elliott-Turner encountered two large black cats in the snow while travelling to work. The creatures ran off across fields, leaving clearly visible footprints.

Further Comments: A milkman on his early morning round reported seeing a large black cat in the village - the sighting unnerved the man to such a degree he quickly left the scene and refused to return to complete his work.

Further Comments: This ABC, possessing a vivid red coat, was blamed for the carcasses of several deer that appeared to have been eaten.

Leaping Cat

Date / Time: 1986
Further Comments: Two teenage friends heard something behind them and watched as a large black cat jumped out into the road. It made eye contact with the witnesses before jumping off again into woodland.

Beast of Buchan

Further Comments: Local man James Maskame watched a large black cat-like creature leave the woods before running across nearby farmland. This is just one of several in the area, where local media have dubbed the cat 'The Beast of Buchan'.

Further Comments: The first alien big cat was reported close to Loch na Keal, where it would remain (fleetingly spotted) over the next twenty years.

Date / Time: February 2000
Further Comments: A large cat walked over to a stationary car and stared into the driver's eyes, face to face, through the side window. The creature then took off into the night.

Two Kittens

Further Comments: Builders on a construction site watched two large black cats on a nearby field. One of the men went to have a closer look and also spotted a pair of younger cats; kittens, but much larger than domestic animals.

Further Comments: A man working in the undergrowth was attacked by a lynx-like creature that tried to bite his hands. Luckily he was wearing thick gardening gloves that protected him.

Large Cat

Further Comments: One man reported two sightings of a big cat on consecutive days in December 2011. The creature was bigger than a domestic cat and against a fence which was later used as a reference point to measured it, the creature was estimated to be around 5 foot (150 centimetres) long.

Stafford Beast

Further Comments: There were several reports of a large cat in this region over the 2008 summer, including one report of a pet sheep that was found dead, a local 'expert' saying that a big cat had attacked it.

Further Comments: Two milkmen in the area reported seeing a large cat with a long tail which had a bushy end. Locals claimed that their pets had been quite restless during the night, though a large scale search by police using tracker dogs and helicopters found nothing.

Further Comments: A teenager reported seeing a giant black cat trotting across the grass here - police were called but could find nothing. The creature was photographed by a woman from the bottom of her garden in Feb 2006.

Further Comments: It was claimed that this ABC used the local rail tracks to move around without attracting too much attention.

Further Comments: While no animal was seen, a large cat left footprints in the snow here in early 1996.
