Nurse with Wounded Soldier - Railway Arch, near Mustow Street, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk

This reoccurring scene dates from the Crimean War. A wounded soldier based at a nearby hospital fell in love with a local nurse, and both tried to elope. The nurse's father found out and tried to stop them, killing the soldier in the process.
