Further Comments: A group of men tried to remove this stone to reach the mythical treasure beneath. A storm blew up, the wind, thunder and lightening driving them away.

Further Comments: This stone is thought to have marked the position of the grave of one of the knights of the round table, though it has been moved at least once since being placed.

Poisoned Husband

Further Comments: Master Millington tried to poison his wife, but ended up killing himself - for his mistake, he is doomed to spend the rest of time here. A phantom knight has also been reported, sporting a white tabard with a red cross. More recently, footsteps have been heard in the main bedroom at night.

Further Comments: This phantom line of people was reported walking past the building. A white woman, once married to the First Earl of Godolphin, is also said to climb out from a closet and walk along the terrace.

Turtle-like Monster

Further Comments: This creature was described as turtle-like, having large front flippers, small back flippers and a shell, but was also said to have a small head on a thin, two foot long neck. It was around 27.5 metres off the coast, and it was said that fish beached themselves to escape the creature.

Further Comments: A buccaneer named Avery was said to have buried several chests of treasure in this area before sailing away, never to return. A Mr John Knill failed to find any treasure after searching the area in 1770.

Further Comments: A man once killed himself by leaping off the cliffs after he found his home burnt to the ground and his sister missing. His screams bounce off the steep cliff sides as stormy weather approaches.

Further Comments: This cat was videoed by one witness, while other people saw the creature with a rabbit in its mouth. A zoo keeper on holiday spotted the creature and identified it as a large cat.

Further Comments: The Devil dropped his stone while fighting with St Michael here, and is said to return once a year to view it (the rock now forms part of the building). The hotel also has a resident ghosted named Nelly.

Further Comments: This entity, normally seen only briefly out of the corner of ones eye, appears to be normal in every respect. Another ghost reportedly haunts the upper part of the pub; an old lady who rocks gently in her chair.

Further Comments: Mostghosts, a Helston based team of paranormal investigators, claimed to have recorded a phantom voice which curses while telling people to leave the mine.

Further Comments: A couple of workers were reported to have seen a tall dark figure, resembling a monk, standing close to the track. Small coloured lights are also said to have been observed close to a cutting.

Sea Monster

Further Comments: Travelling to Kinsale (Co Cork) in his sloop, Patrick Dolan spotted a worm-like creature, some twelve metres long, with a two metre neck lifted above the water. The creature was visible for 20 minutes.

Dead Horse

Further Comments: Several stones from the hill fort were taken to Penzance by horse, to repair the pier. Despite being healthy, the horses all died soon after.
