Once part of the kingdom of Mercia, Bedfordshire is now recognised as the smallest of the Shires, and is devoid of any cities. The area is quite flat, though it does catch some of the Chiltern Hills in the south and chalky hills further northwest. It has very few paranormal claims, and although the county town of Bedford has a smattering of ghost stories, little is told in the way of myth and legend.
